Review Summary: Oral-B Pro 2000 Electric Toothbrush
For someone looking to swap their supermarket manual toothbrush and enter the world of high powered dental care, this is a good place to start. Due to its buzzer alerts (when to move position in mouth and when two minutes is up) along with its pressure sensor alert (when you’re brushing too hard) this toothbrush will have you re-learning the art of teeth cleaning and you’ll be healthier for it.
It may not have all the bells and whistles of the Pro 4000, for instance, but for a great every day clean with added gum care, this is a brilliant product for a good price. The only downside really is the charge time, but as you can leave it on the charger and trust it to turn itself off when charged, this is really not much of a problem.

About the Brand
Oral-B was created in the late 1950s by the American periodontist Dr. Robert W. Hutson as the brand name for his patented ‘mouthbrush’ design. The Gillette group acquired it in the eighties and it remains one of their affordable, everyday product ranges. Braun, another brand under the Gillette umbrella, uses Oral-B branding for its electric toothbrushes.

This Oral-B Pro 2000 has a range of technology that helps keep your teeth squeaky clean without the countless features of some of the higher ranges.
100% more effective than a regular manual toothbrush
The CrossAction head works to give teeth a ‘3D’ clean, working with bristles angled at 16° to help break up plaque – something which it can achieve with up to 100% more effectiveness than a regular manual toothbrush. The CrossAction head oscillates, rotates and pulsates in combination to clean teeth and get rid of plaque. But it doesn’t stop there.
With two different modes (compared to the three modes of the Pro 3000 and the four of the Pro 4000 – seeing a pattern here?), this toothbrush also has a Gum Care faculty. When you press the mode button it switches to a more gentle motion to stimulate gums and keep them healthy.

Prevent destructive over-brushing with an automatic pressure sensor
An interesting addition to this toothbrush is the automatic pressure sensor. While we all know the downsides of under-brushing, over-brushing can be immensely destructive too, wearing down enamel and leaving us with worn, fragile teeth. This pressure sensor lights up as soon as it senses that you are brushing too hard and lets you know it’s time to ease up. Nifty eh?

Develop good habits with the in-built buzzer timer
Brushing your teeth is a habit that goes back so far you’re almost certainly not focusing on it while you’re brushing. Instead your mind is wandering off who knows where or maybe you’re even umming and ahhing to your partner as you both continue the conversation about who put the cat litter on the wrong shelf. This Oral-B Pro 2000 actually tells you every thirty seconds that it’s time to move onto the next section of your mouth by way of a gentle buzzer in the handle. It also buzzes to let you know that your dentist-recommended two minutes is up.
Don't forget to apply toothpaste to the brush head!
An ideal first electric toothbrush
All these functions create the OralB Pro 2000 CrossAction Electric Rechargeable Toothbrushand are good starting points for the average person who is new to using an electric toothbrush. This brush is firmly in the middle of Oral-B’s large range and you have room to experiment up and down the product line.
The charger is a simple stand charger where you can leave your toothbrush charging for the hours it requires, letting it switch itself off when it senses that the toothbrush is fully charged. Not the most innovative charger in Oral-B’s range, it nevertheless does its job well despite taking its sweet time.
