The Market at Grelen in Somerset, VA is a wonderful venue for WEDDINGS! As a wedding videographer, I travel around quite a bit and see many different places. I visited here for the first time in April of 2022 to FILM a wedding and was quite impressed. The 600 acre tree nursery is quite picturesque with GREAT VIEWS in almost any direction you look. There are many great places to shoot both photos and video of the couple on their special day. When I was here, the wedding ceremony was held outside while the reception was held inside a very large stargazing tent which you can plainly see in one of my DRONE pics. I especially enjoyed riding a GATOR through the nursery and out to the hills for a sunset shoot of the couple with the mountains in the background. The footage was EPIC! This venue also includes a European Style Garden Shop, Cafe, hiking trails, and more. While I did not have a lot of time to personally work with the staff, I would highly recommend this venue based on my positive experience!

Amazing Tree Farm near Somerset, VA. The setting overlooking the hills, the orchards and trees was beautiful. The Café offered delicious fresh salads and sandwiches. The Store was delightful. We did the hike to the orchard and picked our own apples. Lots of different varieties. We had a great time and highly recommend a trip to this delightful market and farm.

I am absolutely obsessed with The Market at Grelen! There is an endless amount of possibility for photos on the property. The accommodations for the day from start to finish are always so on point and breathtaking. The bride & groom suites have everything you need and sit back in a private location that makes it convenient to take pictures before the ceremony. Their options for ceremony locations are all you could ever ask for to invite all your friends and family witness your union & photographer's dream. The best part is the views that overlook the nursery with the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains that are unmatched at golden hour. The Greenhouse Reception tent has the most beautiful light any time of day & the reflection of the lights above is truly so romantic. Everywhere you look on the property makes a great photograph. The staff is so friendly and just does the best job running the show. Every wedding I've had the opportunity to photograph there has just been top notch & has gone so smoothly! Definitely consider visiting this venue & booking your dream wedding at this spectacular location!

Lovely nursery, shop and event venue. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at Grelen. Everyone on staff was very friendly and helpful. We look forward to returning for berries and our daughter’s wedding, which will take place here next year.

It was a perfect day trip. The gift shop and plant stands were so beautifully arranged. The five of us enjoyed the walk to the apple orchard and picked a number of different varieties. Our lunch was so fresh and delicious on their charming terrace.

Beautiful valley and lovely views. Gift shop with my favorite napkins by Caspari! Plants for sale and homemade ice cream. Very unique flavors. I wasn't a fan of the mocha but that's just me.I bought 2 super petunias in bubblegum PINK. I've seen these bloom and they are winners!!Places to sit in the shade.Fun garden center and gift shop.

We took our engagement photos as The Market at Grelen, and it was the perfect location. The team was incredibly accommodating and even let us bring our 3-year old Boxer to partake in the fun. The scenery was gorgeous and the vibe was everything we wanted it to be. I could not have imagined a better experience! ALSO, they provided the ice cream for our wedding at Boxwood Villa and every flavor was phenomenal. What an amazing team/group!!!

The Market at Grelen was an absolute DREAM. We had a July wedding and it was better than we could have ever dreamed or planned for it to be. The staff, especially Kristin Simler and Morgan, we fantastic. So very professional and kind. They made our planning and wedding week so peaceful, effortless, and stress-free. The venue is absolutely PERFECTION. The overlook view of the orchard from the tent is breathtaking. We got married in the Half Moon Garden under the gorgeous willow tree. It was so magical and fit 100 people perfectly. It was transformed by a beautiful oasis by the staff! One of our favorite parts of the ceremony were the plants from around the venue arranged along the aisle, to create the most gorgeous atmosphere. The tent was GORGEOUS with amazing lighting and was so specious. No need to rent a dance floor, as the flooring there is gorgeous and dance ready! It rained after our ceremony and the staff pulled the tent siding down easily, making the rain an absolute non-issue. It was just beautiful to watch the rain from the comfort of the inside of the tent! This venue is absolutely gorgeous. The staff is amazing. It was PERFECT for our wedding day and we are so thankful!

We attended a wedding at this venue Saturday night. It was the most magical wedding I have ever been to!!!! The 360 degree views were breathtaking. The tent was open to the specutacular sights of hills rolling grass, trees, hydrangea, sunsets and stars. The tent itself had a clear ceiling lined with lights that added to the sparkle of the natural stars shining in that perfectly clear evening sky. Beautiful!!!! The food was delicious..I had salmon. Besides the view there were two things that made this so wonderful. First was the staff, they were incredibe, starting with the manager and every single person who worked with the company. Second was a particularly wonderful staff person that absolutely made our night. Her name is Sam, or Samantha. She is the most wonderful fun professional caring person and her personality and attention to making us feel special and have everything we needed was stellar!!! I will always remember this enchanting romantic story book setting, the beautiful couple who we have known his whole life, his wonderful family and friends, many are our neighbors. And I will always remember how much a most special wonderful professional fun person was the brightest star for many of us that night, Samantha. If you are looking for a perfect venue for a wedding or any occasion, this spot is a little piece of heaven on earth!!!!

The Market at Grelen is a fabulous location for a wedding! We loved photographing Brian & Steven's wedding there with all of the amazing locations on site, sunset here with the incredible views has made it one of our top venues! The staff were all so friendly and helpful and we can't wait to photograph here again in the future!

We had a great Mother's Day outing yesterday with great food and always gorgeous flowers and plants for sale there. I resisted filling up my SUV, but couldn't resist buying a beautiful blueberry bush and a deep red peony for my yard. We arrived early and did not have much of a wait for lunch, but many others experienced a long line to order. Suggest that you expand food preparation capacity and increase wait staff on special occasions.Looking forward to our next visit already!

What a beautiful place. I spent several hours here and enjoyed every bit of it. The drive out from RVA is easy for a day trip and beautiful on its own. The views around the property are gorgeous and the market itself has so many delightful little spots, I walked around it several loops before deciding where I ultimately wanted to sit. Lunch was delicious, and so was the flight of Virginia wines. Later in the afternoon I had a flight of homemade ice cream and some coffee, and enjoyed the cute and indulgent little shop full of fun things. I can imagine that weddings here are absolutely gorgeous, but I’d highly recommend this place for a get together or just a solo getaway like I had. The staff were all kind and attentive. Definitely will be going back!

Sara Jones — Google review

This lovely garden center was a pretty place to visit while we were staying at the Willow Grove Inn. There were lots of people visiting that afternoon, as the Christmas season was upon us. There was an abundance of of Christmas trees for sale, along with poinsettias and a picture taking opportunity with Santa. The gift shop was simply beautiful all decked out in Christmas finery. I purchased some wonderful ribbons to decorate my wreaths and packages with and would have had a bite to eat there if we hadn't just had lunch. We had a nice chat with one of the employees and she helped me choose the ribbons and made suggestions on things to do in the area. I snapped a picture of the living "Love" sign on our way out, and that was my thought exactly!

Ronda Loyer — Google review

The cafe never lets us down. We went out for the first time this season and the food was delicious. Everything is so fresh. The vegetables with the dips were awesome. Soups, superb. The staff is always great.

The Market at Grelen is an incredible location for any wedding. I photographed a wedding here in July, and it was spectacular. From the lovely getting ready cottage (with separate bride and groom suites) to the orchard of peaches and apples (where I photographed the bride and groom portraits) and the gift shop that's surrounded by a plethora of beautiful plants, this is a great location to host your wedding and celebration!

co*cktail bar

Nestled in the Shenandoah mountains, Copper Fox Distillery offers a unique experience for whiskey enthusiasts. The distillery's smoky applewood-aged whiskey is a standout feature, and visitors can enjoy tours and tastings of their premium flights. The rustic space pays homage to the building's roots, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the outdoor co*cktail garden by the river provides a relaxing setting to savor their exceptional spirits.

Had gone for what seemed like a never ending hike before coming here and all we wanted to do was sit and have a co*cktail- it didn’t disappoint. They have tables outside right along a creek/river/stream/babbling brook- I could have sat there all day. It was so peaceful. The co*cktails were strong and delicious. We’re in the area for a few more days and we’ll definitely return for another drink.

Jess S — Google review

Even though it was just myself, I had a great time trying the different whiskeys Copper Fox provided. They had a wide variety of flavor profiles. So I’m sure visitors will find something they enjoy. I enjoyed the Chestnut American and bought a bottle while I was there. I also bought an Age Your Own Whiskey kit that I can’t wait to do. The atmosphere was great and will be more enjoyable with friends and family.

What a great experience. We were greeted at the door and explained about the distillery. The shop was nice. We went outside to enjoy a drink and discovered a relaxing river view. Steve the cat joined us and kept us company. We were very impressed and will be back.

I spent a week in the Shenandoah mountains alone, a true getaway. While exploring the valley to see what there was to experience, I came across this place and decided I had to check it out. I have rarely made a better decision. The whisky was phenomenal top to bottom, I tried both the regular flight and premium flight and was disappointed with none of it. The staff was warm and welcoming, service was excellent, and the setting… the setting was unbeatable. The riverside bar was everything I needed. Prices are excellent, quality is absurd, and I can’t recommend this highly enough. I’m now on a quest to get the state of Alabama to try to bring this into distribution so I can buy it at my local liquor store instead of driving 950 miles! Do yourself a favor, try Copper Fox… You gotta do it!

dan crago — Google review

Copper Fox Distillery was a very cool find! My boyfriend and I enjoyed delicious co*cktails during sunset after hiking Old Rag. We were the only ones there and enjoyed sitting by the river watching the cat roam around. The inside had some of the most interesting decor too. Their Old Fashion was one of the best I’ve ever had! I highly recommend!

Nina Mortelliti — Google review

Some of the best whiskey I have tried in one of the most serene locations. The staff at the distillery were friendly and knowledgable. I tried the premium flight to experience their more interesting products. The port style rye may be one of my favorite whiskeys to date. We sat out back next to a trickling stream that made for a fantastically peaceful experience.

Tim Farinholt — Google review

This is a must stop place to see and try if you are into distillery/tastings. I got the flight and pirate lemonade. Everyone was nice and the atmosphere was just perfect. If I had to be nit picky, I would add a bug attractor away from the guest area to deter the disturbances of bugs. All in all, will definitely return!

Kong — Google review

We all had a great time, you should definitely make this a stop if you are in the area. Good drinks, service and the price is totally acceptable.

Christopher A. Leach — Google review

A delightful, unassuming location. When you pull up, you might think your GPS took you to the wrong location, because you will be surrounded by old warehouses. Rest assured, you're in the right spot! Follow the sign to the distillery, and head in the main doors to be greeted in a rustic space that pays homage to the building's roots. If it's a nice day, head out back for a nice surprise - a co*cktail garden alongside the river! The menu is loaded with tasty co*cktail options for you to enjoy, as well as a couple spirit flights. I'd personally recommend the premium flight because it contains some of the best local whiskey expressions I've had. While you're in the garden, you may be joined by one of the distillery's cats, which can provide extra entertainment if they're in a hunting mood.

Josh Bittinger — Google review

We discovered an absolute hidden gem here! Despite arriving just an hour before closing, the manager (whose name escapes me) delivered exceptional service. He led us on a delightful tour, enlightening us about the whiskey-making process. I can't wait to return with friends and family to share this cozy and inviting atmosphere. Many thanks for a truly wonderful experience!

Andreina Barthly — Google review

Nice little surprise along our drive today! This distillery had a nice co*cktail list, beautiful view out their back door with a babbling brook, and the atmosphere inside was also very inviting. The four of us enjoyed a couple hot totties and old fashions. These were the best drinks of our whole vacation. If you have the opportunity make a stop at Copper Fox, you won’t be disappointed.

Went on a tour last Sunday at Williamsburg location and had such a nice time. Gabriel was such a good tour guide and has a great sense of humor. We truly enjoyed learning about the Whisky making process and touring the distillery. Such a great date! Seeing the process and smelling the aromas of freshly distilled spirits was quite nice. Ending up our tour with a stop in the bar and enjoying a flight of the Whisky and one of the best Whisky sours that I have ever had. We truly had a great time!

Waynett W — Google review

Visited the distillery in Sperryville. Really cool place to relax and get a whisky flight or co*cktail. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and super chill. Loved the inside decor- comfortable and welcoming. They have some games and cards you could use and a nice place outside to sit. It was very cold when we visited so we opted to stay inside. We both liked the whiskey flights. My fav was the Copper Fox original Rye. II would have loved to try a co*cktail too but was driving. Give 'em a try if you are in the area!

Wide array of flavors to taste from. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff. Rye and XO were my favorites.Did bother the standard and premium spirt tastings.

The property provides a peaceful and stunning setting with picturesque views of the trees, river, and stars at night. Guests can enjoy al fresco dining on the porch while taking in the serene surroundings. Kathy and Jimm are the best! Great Vineyard, B&B and Wine. Awesome Hosts! Couldn’t have asked for anything better than to get away for a couple of days listen to sounds of the water, relax, escape from your normal day to day take in the views of the mountains, the farm, the birds, and the wildlife and drink some great wine! Visited several other places close by and explored the Skyline Parkway. Awesome Views!

My boyfriend and I stopped by Sharp Rock Winery for a tasting after hiking Old Rag. It was one of the first stops you’ll find after leaving Old Rag. We were greeted by Jim, one of the owners, and his dog, Maisey. Jim was great to talk to about wines and other sites to see in the area. He was helpful and drew us a great map :) We left with a bottle of their red. I hope to go back!

We enjoyed our early Fall getaway in a beautiful and tranquil setting. Our hosts were friendly and accommodating. The wine was delicious and the breakfast was amazing. The 1794 Cottage was well equipped and comfortable. Just right for getting away from the daily grind and a very easy drive from Northern Virginia. The wine tasting was friendly and informative.

A very rustic setting that's peaceful to enjoy some good wine. The owner is very nice. They also have a cottage to stay in.

What a wonderful place! It was even better than anticipated. If you are looking for a beautiful quiet spot where you hear nature’s sounds, birds, the river, rather than traffic and such, and can indulge in interesting wines as well as the best breakfast, look no further. Jimmy and Kathy are lovely hosts, Mary gave a fun wine tasting, and enjoying some more wine by the river was icing on the cake. I felt so welcome, and will definitely be back.

Jimm is a very welcoming host and the vineyard itself is peaceful and scenic. The carriage house is a great place to stay and the wine was incredible as well. We will certainly be back for another stay in the future!

Great place. We stayed a few nights for our 1 year wedding anniversary/my 40th birthday. Jimm is super friendly and easygoing with two very sweet dogs whose company we very much enjoyed.Sharp Rock is in a beautiful location, somewhat off the beaten path by a small river, with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. The cottage we stayed in was very rustic - no TV, no wifi or cell service - but our accommodations were quiet, convenient to local attractions, clean and comfortable. If I had to nit pick…The deck and furniture were covered in leaves, some of the solar lights along the path to the house were knocked over or not working, and there was a dead plant in a hanging basket where perhaps a mum or some other fall plant would have brightened it up.Breakfast each day was egg soufflés, fresh fruit, and different types of muffins - delicious! Wine tasting was on the second floor of the barn - small but charming. We enjoyed the wine we tried - the chamois blanc and rose noir were favorites. We went home with a few bottles! Will definitely come back and recommend giving it a try!

Mary Beth Waters — Google review

Very cute vineyard / winery. You will be way out of range of cell service, but that's how you know it's good. The owner is a master of his craft, and appreciates the art of wine without being a snob about it. Low key fun, and I promise you will learn something about wine by visiting. Their 2022 Rose' Noir is amazing. Nice indoor and outdoor seating, and two very friendly dogs. Very limited production artisanal vibe. Also they have some very good locally sourced Amish cheeses that are made in old German style, incredible, and worth a stop if you just get cheese.

Spoon — Google review

Perfect weekend getaway! We enjoyed the amenities provided in the cabin, and the wine. It was the perfect setting to sip wine by the river. Breakfast was delicious and filling. Jimm was very nice and accommodating. Great stay!

Samantha Goodwin — Google review

Setting is peaceful and gorgeous. We've stayed 3 times in the small carriage house with a porch that allows for al fresco dining with a view of the trees, river, hummingbirds and stars at night. The cottage is small but efficient with everything you need. Bring food to enjoy dinner in this setting while fresh fruit and freshly baked muffins or scones in the morning could not be better. Along with a magical sunrise. Go during the week if you want optimal peace and quiet on the road to Old Rag. Other hiking options abound in the area. Good restaurants are also nearby (10 - 20 miles).

Duncan Hodge — Google review

Great boutique winery serving excellent wines. Owner friendly and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

valerie burkett — Google review

Sharp Rock was fabulous. We stayed in the Cottage on a beautiful September weekend and our patio had views of Old Rag and the river running through the property. Jimm is a great host and was great to talk to both about his wines as well as hiking options, eating options, and about anything else! They have some unique wines so we happily bought a mixed case which bring back all of our wonderful memories every time we open a bottle! We will certainly be back and would highly highly recommend is for anybody looking for a wonderful getaway!

Caverns & Caves

Anthodites (white spiky rock formations) mark these caverns offering 1-hour tours & a mini-train.

These are fairly "young" caverns geologically speaking, so the formations are not as extensive as some of the older caverns in the area. Our tour guide was very well informed and provided a great narrative during the tour. We enjoyed our tour as there were only 4 others with us some we could take our time and examine the caverns in some detail. The guide answered all our questions without hesitation. A very enjoyable and informative experience.

James Gabriel — Google review

As one descends into the caverns, the grandeur of the stalactites and stalagmites is truly breathtaking. The intricate patterns, delicate formations, and vibrant colors combine to create a surreal and magical environment. The play of light and shadow further enhances the visual spectacle, adding depth and dimension to the already stunning surroundings. The rich history and ancient nature of the caverns add to their allure. Exploring the depths of the caverns feels like stepping back in time, unraveling the mysteries of the Earth's past. The sense of timelessness and the sheer magnitude of the underground chambers evoke a sense of wonder and reverence. In addition to the natural beauty, Skyline Caverns also prides itself on its excellent service and attention to detail. Knowledgeable guides lead visitors through the caverns, providing fascinating insights into the geological formations and the history of the site. Their expertise and passion for the caves enhance the overall experience, making it both educational and engaging.

Faris Al Orfali — Google review

A Groupon coupon put this on our radar and we are so glad it did! The caverns were great. Our guide was informative and lots of fun stories to share. We enjoyed seeing the signature wall from the Civil War soldiers and hearing about the dance parties down in the large cavern. The guide was especially good with the little fella' nervous about the lights being turned off. Bring a picnic and make a day of it. A great way to reinforce geology school lessons or simply enjoy a unique date:

Heather Staley — Google review

This place was slightly cool but the tour length was unecessary. It took an hour when it could have realistically been done in twenty minutes. The place itself is cool, I really enjoyed the beetle and the gem stuff but was mentioning the colored lights really necessary? I also like the fish down in the cave I guess but it’s kind of unecessary. It’s nice to visit if you have time to spend but if you have places to go this is not the place there are other caverns that are more worthwhile.

Account Guide — Google review

I loved visiting this location on the rainy day that I was in Front Royal. It was about an hour tour but the group can linger if you need more time. A great summer activity as it is much colder underground. Home to some incredibly rare sea urchin-like formations only going found in a few locations in the world. The tour guide was funny, informative, helpful, and kind. The gift shop has really cute dishes and rocks and really nice items that were reasonably priced. I’d come again just to see the colored lights in the caves again.

So incredibly amazing! Guided tour. Our guide was wonderful. Open 7 days a week 930-4(?). We got there at 1030 on a Sunday and it was not crowded at all. Our group was maybe 16 people. It's a walking tour and about 1 and 1/8th mile long, 200 ft underground. WEAR A LIGHT JACKET. 54°F. There are 61 stairs to come back aboveground. Not stroller friendly. It was about an hour start to finish but it didn't seem that long. We learned so much. It was perfect for my 7 year old, but maybe a little too much for my 4yo. Wear shoes with good traction. The mirror maze is a MUST! And the train ride was cute. Do them all, you won't regret it. Massive gift shop. I can't believe I've only ever been to the other caverns before - this was super impressive and my favorite !

Jennifer Ransbotham — Google review

Location location location. That's what this place has in its favor sitting only about a mile from the North entrance of Skyline Drive. It's a nice 1 hour long tour of the cave. It's roughly mid 50s temperature in there so be sure to pack a sweatshirt. I felt that $25 per adult was maybe a little steep but still within reason for a nice touristy cave system.

Daniel Miller — Google review

The tour is guided and takes about 1 hour.We learn a lot with all information from the guide. Not sure about our guide guy name, but I believe that his name was Tristan (sorry if I spelled his name wrong, my English is not good), but our guide was excellent. It is a beautiful cavern.

Caize Queiroz — Google review

If you're in the area, this cavern is a great place to check out. The formations are beautiful and the tour was very nice. The rainbow colored lights create some cool effects and have the added bonus of cutting down on moss growth. Wear shoes with some tread as the path can be a bit slippery.

Caleb Mayes — Google review

I visited the Skyline Caverns at the end of October with two friends of mine and we all absolutely loved it! The cavern felt natural and untouched, as they’ve preserved it well. There are also LED lights throughout the cave which made it look otherworldly. We had Andrew as our tour guide and he made the experience great while also being very informative. I’ve been to the Luray Cavern two times and although it is very pretty to look at and more convenient that it is not guided, it was not very informative and felt too commercialized. The tour took approx an hour, would definitely recommend a visit here!

Kaylin O'Neill — Google review

Had a very good cavern tour here with a knowledgeable and humorous tour guide. I also liked that we had periodic tour pauses to allow for taking photos. The cavern itself is pretty interesting, as it houses unique crystals and formations.

Felt a bit pricy but had a great time visiting the Skyline Caverns. Tour guide was very funny and informative about the caverns. They did a great job with lights. If you are in the area, you should make a stop, it was worth visiting. Heard that Luray Caverns is larger than this.

No food here. But what a great experience. Becket was a wonderful guide with a wealth of knowledge. Cool gift shop and saw cave flowers. Only created in a vacuum.

Leah Kapurch — Google review

Our tour guide was funny, well informed, and patient. We had plenty of time to explore the caverns and never felt rushed. We were worried that it was going to be too kitschy, but instead were impressed with how little the modern improvements were visible in the caverns. Definitely worth the trip.

Wineries & Vineyards

Glen Manor Vineyards is a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts in Virginia. The extensive wine menu changes weekly, offering a variety of options to explore. Visitors can enjoy free tastings from different vineyards and indulge in gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. The wines are generally on the drier side and are held to a high standard. The staff members are friendly and knowledgeable, providing exceptional service.

Wine was great‼️👍 The owners (?) / employees came out to greet me & my family & explained a little about the 216 acres of farmland that was transformed into a winery. 🍷 🍾 I will be back to enjoy some more wine in the near future...

Shane M Gordon (Sawuwaya) — Google review

After our hike in Shenandoah National Park, we stopped by Glen Manor for a glass of wine as it is very close to the trails. When having wine here you get to enjoy the same stunning views as hiking in the national park. The scenery is truly breathtaking. The service we encountered was exceptional. The staff members are true wine experts and treat you like royalty. The wine itself was fantastic. It's worth noting to bring your own snacks or lunch as they don't offer food on-site, but they do allow you to bring your own. With a spacious patio and outdoor area, you can sit back, unwind, and fully absorb the incredible mountain views. This will be a post-hike tradition for me from now on!

My fiance surprised me with a visit to this winery for my birthday. We are from Maryland, so it was almost a 2 hour drive. The ladies, Kelly, Denise, and Cassey were super sweet. Denise made us feel welcome with all her knowledge and great personality. The wine tasting was delicious! We were well accommodated, and taken care of. We will surely be back!

What a lovely place! We had a fabulous tasting. The owner was so knowledgeable and you could see and hear her love for the vineyard and wine in every word she spoke. These folks grow their own grapes and just their grapes go into their wine. No additives. The wine has a fresh distinctive flavor and body. I have never tasted wine as delicious as this.

Fantastic winery. Jeff and Kelly White are some of the best vintners in Virginia. Their wines are excellent and my favorites. I enjoy them on a regular basis. The vineyard has spectacular views and they are the most friendly. I really love this vineyard - it is my favorite.Dave

Such a beautiful peaceful place..the wines 🍷(we had Rosè )are good and affordable. And the View ? It 'is magical especially this time of year🍁🧡🤗 , I'm glad we found this treasure...perfect timing !Wish they have food available but I saw people brought their own so I guess its allowed? hehe.

Come for the wines. Remember the stories. Kelly recounts the intergenerational tale of her husband's family and the development of Glen Manor as a Virgina wine icon. As Kelly conveys, the wine is made in the vineyard. Exceptional product and a Greta tasting experience.

We felt instantly welcome here. They do a lot for a small winery and make sure to explain their history and the history of the grapes/wine. For a hot day, we really enjoyed the white wines they offered. Do the tasting! We had a glass of wine outside after the tasting and enjoyed the serenity of the area.

Seems of the beaten path down by the Shenandoah National Park but we’ll worry the trip! Wine is fantastic and great view of the park and their fields. Denise was fantastic with her history and knowledge of the wines.

Bill Wehling — Google review

This was the BEST winery that we've visited in Virginia! Not only is it gorgeous, but Kelly (owner) spent time with us to explain the history of the winery and each wine during our tasting. This farm is obviously beloved by the family and the passion is evident. We were able to get a reservation for a tasting the day beforehand and are so glad we had this as the end of our minimoon. I've never experienced a tasting before where I truly enjoyed each wine presented - but this was a first, and it made it tough to choose which bottles to purchase and bring home! Highly recommend stopping here for an hour or two.

Nikki Smith Acierto — Google review

We've come here a few times now, and no trip has disappointed. Their wines are generally on the drier side, which is our preference. We end up starting with a flight each visit to taste the new varieties before selecting a glass. They hold their wine to a high standard, so there may be times when they are a little low on inventory because they chose not to use a certain crop. The staff members are very friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. There is seating outside, but depending on the time you stop by there might not be many options available. To avoid that problem, make a reservation ahead of time or bring a blanket to sit on.

We had a pleasant time here, although we started in the patio, but had to move inside as the temp dropped. Tried a few wine flights amongst the six of us and settled on our favorites. Staff was wonderful and the service was very good. Nice place to hang out and sample some wines.

Our server was excellent and made our visit very enjoyable. Everything was delicious. A wonderful experience, beautiful location, and great place to celebrate a birthday. Our only regret was that the kitchen closed an hour after our 3:00 reservation time and we were limited to two hours prior to a private event. We were only made aware of this the day prior. We would love to come back on a nice day to sit in the outdoor area.

Bill B. — Google review

Absolutely gorgeous grounds and Tasting Room. The atmosphere is top tier with ambient big band and jazz music. We tried two flights; one red and one white. I wish the wines were enough of a reason to return. Wines were uninspiring, without much desirable flavor, and mostly tasted like alcohol. I certainly wouldn’t purchase any of the eight we sampled for consumption at a later date. Our meal options were a part of a special event. We sent one dish back as the flavor profiles were inedible. The dish had a strong, malodorous, unappetizing odor that was off-putting to other members of our party. The tenderloin was delicious.

Absolutely beautiful Vineyard located in the hills outside of Charlottesville. Perfect day trip from VA Beach. Out of all the vineyards in the area we picked this one because they have a full kitchen and turn out some very delicious food. The property is absolutely gorgeous, it's feels like you jumped into a painting. We went in on a Friday and they were moderately busy so I recommend reservations. They also have an absolutely beautiful out back area with a separate "Meadows" menu. They have so many different wines it was hard to choose a flight. All of the ones we tried were delicious, every single one. The charcuterie and fried polenta also went perfectly with all of our wine. There are also several B&Bs' in the area if you want to make a long weekend out of your trip.

This place was beautiful and the food/wine was exquisite! If you have the opportunity to sit outside with good weather, please do so! The views are stunning and I can’t wait to come back for their zucchini cake dessert!!!!

Early Mountain Vineyards for brunch was an excellent choice! We order a red wine flight, even though they do not offer as part of the menu, the manager accommodated our request. The brunch was excellent too.One suggestion, if you have kids, it might be difficult in terms of food. The menu is very limited and do not have kids friendly options. We also ask, and were told only menu items. I still rate 5 star vineyard!

Sharing from a wedding photographer's point of view; this place is incredible! They offer a great variety of locations - having their own "getting ready" area off site, beautiful landscapes surrounding the space, and plenty of outdoor area for co*cktail hour and reception. The team is top notch and is incredibility collaborative for the vendors on the day of. We're looking forward to our next one there as they always help make the day so much more seamless for everyone involved.

Very beautiful property. Has a lot of space for guests to walk around. We made a reservation at 1:15 and arrived on time, but didn’t get seated until 1:25 or so. The server at our table was great—friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about their wine/food. The food itself tastes great, but the portions are very very tiny, with pretty high prices. It’s a good place for snacking, but not good value for a full meal.

We had an excellent experience at Early Mountain Vineyards. The whole place is a absolutely stunning. The wine was delicious and our waitress was amazing. We were a bit disappointed in the food selection, but what we did order was good. Between our group members we tried the wine flight, a glass of sparkling, and the Rise red . We enjoyed everything and would definitely go back in the future.

Lovely vinyard and restaurant. Love the red wines here (Foothills 2022, Eluvium 2020, 2020 Cab Franc). Had the local Bison steak. Fantastic service - extremely attentive. The Chef and Wine director have quite the resume. We will be back!

Randy Sisto — Google review

Overall we had a really good experience here. I'm not a wine drinker, but the others in my party really enjoyed the wine. We had made a reservation and were seated inside, which was beautiful, clean, and spacious. The service was pretty good, and the food we ordered was delicious. The only real complaint we had was the height of bathroom stalls. The bathrooms were perfectly fine except that the dividers for the stalls were pretty short! Any average size man can easily look over the divider and they wouldn't even have to get on their tippy toes to do it. Management, please, fix this ASAP!

Wow! The bison ribeye was great and the wine was fantastic! The Brussels sprouts had such a great flavor as well. The rumchata cake was a great way to end the meal and left me wanting more lol. Everyone was super friendly and honestly we just wanted to sit there all day and hang out lol. Props to the Chef! This place had such lovely esthetics as well!

Before visiting Reynard Florence Vineyard, the individual enjoyed hiking nearby trails. Having visited once in the past and recalling the excellent wines, they were pleased to return for another visit. The experience was delightful as they tasted most of the wines which were all delicious. Notably, their favorites included Chardonnay, Petit Verdot, Cab Franc, and Grenache. The welcoming atmosphere created a sense of friendship with both staff and regular visitors.

One of VERY FAVORITE petite wineries - The wine is fantastic, the owners are wonderful, the atmosphere relaxed. Not where you may expect to find a winery but very well worth the drive. Can't wait to go back!

We did our first look for our wedding at Reynard Florence Vineyard and it was absolutely perfect. They have gorgeous views of the rolling hills of Virginia at the top of their vineyard and our pictures turned out amazing (shoutout to Amber Mae Photography)! Dee and Roe were so kind and accommodating and we got to serve some of their wine at our wedding. The wine is so good and they have a beautiful space. Highly recommend!

Stopped by on a Thursday afternoon in late December. It was pretty dreary out, but we decided to visit Reynard Florence still. We enjoyed our trip! The vineyard is small. Nothing like Kings Family Vineyard, but that's what we liked about it! We wanted something lowkey and quiet. Two cute corgis greeted us when we entered. The younger of the two just adored belly rubs. Ti-Rey, the older of the two came outside with us when we had our drinks, but kept is distance and then went in shortly after us.There were two ladies inside when we first got there and then another couple came a little bit after us and that was it! Jill explained the white and red flights that they had. They don't have any sweet wines, BUT Jill was kind enough to sweeten one of the white wines for me with a little currant jelly, which made it so delicious! The other wines were also good, but I just prefer sweet wines. There is a front patio, deck in the rear, and a pergola among the grape vines, which looks like would provide great views in the other three seasons. We chose the front patio and Jill promptly turned the propane firepit for us and showed us how we can turn it up or down. At first I didn't think we would need it since it was a fairly mild day (especially for December!) But when I walked around to look around and then came back, I was thankful for the heat. We ended up buying a bottle of white and red. We enjoyed our trip to Reynard Florence and likely will make another trip again!

I came in by myself for a quick tasting and ended up staying because of the friendly and warm welcome from the staff and others visiting this winery (and the two pups!). Highly recommend and I will be back to visit again soon!

Beautiful!!! Plus, awesome wine! If you want to relax from a long... week of work, this is the place to go ( I highly recommend).

Anabel Torres — Google review

Really friendly winery with great wine! We arrived a bit before tasting time, but loved that the phone numbers to the owners were on the door so that we could still enjoy a tasting. We really enjoyed all the wines and they were distinct from the usual Virginia terroir. Wines were reasonable priced, and we definitely enjoyed the stop. We would definitely recommend if you're in the Barboursville/Charlottesville area!

Nathan Brown — Google review

Wine was mediocre. Tasting was $15+ for 4 wines. I could not believe the minuscule tasting pour...not even enough to taste ...maybe 1.5 tbsp at most. I can tell employee was well schooled on minimizing tasting pour by the way he looked at each plastic cup to make sure he didn't pour too much. In hindsight, I should have just told the young man to keep it and left. I'll never be back to Reynaud Florence which I first visited about 10 years ago if I remember correctly. There are too many better wineries around. Owners use to be there, but no sign of them this visit. Maybe wines might have tasted better if there had been a second swallow.

joe amigo — Google review

We hiked nearby trails before heading over to this winery. I had been once years ago and remembered the wines to be very good. So glad we returned because our visit was wonderful. We tried most of their wines and all were delicious. Our favorites were the Chardonnay, Petit Verdot, Cab Franc, and Grenache. We feel like we made new friends there because they and another couple who were "regulars" were so welcoming. If you like exploring Virginia wineries, don't miss this one.

Host "staff" (I cant remember Carolina's name.... she's memorable in PERSONALITY of one +++) & was SUPER friendly!I love the winery dogs are part of the experience. Ti-Rey (there has got to be a French background story) is adorable & training Brixie. We went on a gloomy cloudy grey weekday kind of early, & were alone tasting. Perfect for us, we get the cute dogs to ourselves.Within an hour of our arrival, regular "Vicky" (apparently more family than regular) arrived w 2 Uncles... HUGS all around. Then owners arrived, more hugs, their group adjourns to the rear Salon. The Reserve bottles opened up b/c of their visit. We were treated to extra tastings courtesy of the Owner's group & a got a glimpse into the family-forward wine community Reynard fosters. This isn't just a winery stop on the Monticello Trail tour. You have to follow the road less travelled a ways to get to this experience. The driveway is steep & parking minimal. The award-winning wines & family environment are well worth the excursion.Reynard is a bistro experience.... come stay awhile. Have a bottle by the fire or in the gazebo, visit with the dogs, you'll get treated like one of their own.Everyone is family we've yet to meet. Pull up a chair, grab a blanket by the fire, they'll pour, snuggle with a dog, meet new people & have the best laughs.Reynard is the combination of best traits; an off-the-beaten-trail family business getting it right putting experience first.

Scenic park stretching along 6 miles of the Shenandoah, featuring boat launches & picnic areas.

This park was beautiful, quiet, clean and had amazing views with great hikes. The trails vary in level depending on what you are looking for. There are spaces to hike, bird watch or sit by the water. There are great bathrooms for public use. RV and tent camping, though the tent sites are not drive up sites. Fire wood is available to buy. You are nestled near the Shenandoah Mountains and could easily drive a little down the road to hike some famous trails or view some scenic outposts.

Annamarie DiRaddo McKevitt — Google review

Beautiful park no matter what time of the year you come. Be careful when in the picnic area after a rainstorm passes through. The ground becomes very slick if there is no mulch or leaves on the ground. The visitors center is very nice. The overlook provided some spectacular views of the Shenandoah Mountains, Shenandoah River and the valley. Lots of hiking trails to go on as well.

bobby reagan — Google review

Very helpful ranger made my visit a delight. The building is really cool, inside and out. The landscaped water feature was neat to see outside and even cooler to look at from the large observation window just to the right as you enter. Covered picnic area off the left side has a great view of the river. There are a few exhibits inside that are worth looking over, especially the taxidermied animals.

Anne Margaret White — Google review

Very nice RV sites and hookup. Very nice staff. Clean and adequate restrooms. Trails are pleasant and good biking, but the national park nearby ($ entry fee) has much more extensive hiking, falls, and overlooks.

MARK MCCONNELL — Google review

We visited 2 sections: the canoe launch area (with picnic tables and pavillions), and the overlook. The picnic area has several tables, the metal grills if you want to BBQ, and an indoor area with multi-stall men's & women's bathrooms. There's also a stepped access point to walk down to the river's edge, which was nice. (It should be noted that there are signs up warning you about food storage due to potential for bears)The overlook is what it sounds like, and it absolutely delivers an incredible view (my pics don't begin to do it justice--and we were there RIGHT at sunset. Gorgeous). Both areas give you a beautiful view of the river. We plan to return VERY soon.

J Doriel Demps — Google review

The RV campground is well maintained and large enough to fit three 2-person tents and a canopy comfortably. There is also a shower room and bathroom nearby. Water and power at each RV camp site.

Amber Luecke — Google review

Beautiful state park overall! Campground was really nice with quiet, private sites that were each very well maintained. Dogs welcome, clean secure bathhouse, laundry facilities, hiking trails along the Shenandoah River, etc. Park also geographically located in good area - very close proximity to Skyline Drive, 8 miles from city of Front Royal and maybe 12-15 miles from Luray…so plenty of things to see and do!

James Easter — Google review

Very nice state park. Thoroughly enjoyed the trail along the river and Culler overlook. First time staying in a camping cabin. Comfortable and clean. I wish the peak vents could be blocked to keep heat in during winter months.

Stopped by on the Virginia State Park Trail Quest. Stopped by the Visitor Center first and got great advice to try the Bluebell Trail for a riverside hike. Gorgeous, wide, flowing, tranquil waterside stroll. The ranger also suggested stopping at the overlook. So glad she did! Absolutely amazing view.

Anne Margaret White — Google review

Spent three nights in the RV campground here. Park is really nice with an abundance of hiking, all of which is really well blazed and not terribly strenuous. Some great views to be found along the way. The river is the real attraction here with plenty of rafting and wading opportunities. All dog friendly, which is always a plus for me.

One of the most beautiful parks in Virginia. For almost all seasons thia park offers the visitors a lot of activities. The picnic areas next to the river are very inviting. The walk trails have different levels of incline to suit your choice of difficulty. There are a million amazingly beautiful picture frames that one can try to capture the beauty spread all around and still will need more. The pristine views of the river, trees touching the clouds, flowers that are wild and beautiful, trails that seem to be going for ever and more..The overlook offers an amazing view of the river below.I have visited here many weekends and clicked a few hundred pictures. Walked the trails and enjoyed the fresh air. This park is truly a Gem

Nikhil Dogra — Google review

Great place to enjoy nature at its best. The overlook in the park offers awesome views. The park has RV campgrounds and cabins too.Wood is available at the visitors centre for $7/bundle.

Rupam Chakraborty — Google review

Beautiful river, not too deep. You can easily wade near the shore, but water shoes make it easier because there are lots of sharp rocks. There are lots of picnic areas and they have bathrooms. Tubing is not so easy because it is not deep enough and lots of sharp rocks, but a raft or canoe would be fun.

Pablo Buendia — Google review

I stayed in cabin 7 over the weekend with my husband and 2 pups. I've stayed at a handful of va state parks now, and like usual the cabin was great. The cabin had plenty of space for all of us. All va state park cabins come furnished with all the dishes and pots/pans that you may need. This particular cabin shares the driveway with cabin 6. We did have zero cell service though, but there is wifi available at the park office.

Jen Jamerson — Google review

I went to this park in the fall season and it was the best decision. The water is so clear and the views are beautiful. The people who like fishing, this is the best spot for fishing. Also the people who don't like mosquitoes must keep mosquitoes spray. The cabins look cozy and worth staying.

Amna Khalil — Google review

Ran along the river and looped up to Cullers overlook. Great view. I stayed in Camping cabin #41 and it was more than accommodating. I ended up bringing a pair of heaters and was able to keep the cabin comfortable. The park was quiet not too many campers in early December. I definitely look forward to coming back to explore more.

Robert Tasselmyer — Google review

We camped in one of the RV pads. We’re from Florida and this was one of our stops heading to Maine. This was absolutely the best state park we have ever camped in across the country. The pads were very spacious and spread out and the bathrooms and showers were clean. We didn’t explore much of the park but we did go to the overlook and went to the river from the camp loop. We saw many deer, rabbits, and a black cat that must’ve lived somewhere in the campsite. If I lived in VA, I would definitely come back and try out one of the yurts and cabins!

Elliese Shaughnessy — Google review

Great trails from easy to difficult. Graveled trail along the river. Dog friendly.Cozy and clean cabins. Great views from trails. Lots of birding opportunities.

What an excellent places to just stop and unwind. Josh was an excellent host. He was very knowledgeable not only about the history of the house but of the wines they had for tasting. What a neat place, grab a glass of wine and walk around the house and grounds! If you love historical homes and wine this is a must place to stop. The added "ghost" makes it even more interesting as thus place was featured on ghost hunters!

My friend recently visited from Australia, and I was determined to show her the best of Winchester. Valerie Hill Vineyard did not disappoint! It was her favorite part of Winchester and one of the highlights of her entire trip around the U.S.From the moment we drove up we were taken aback by the beauty of the estate. Inside, the atmosphere was warm and inviting (even on the chilly day), and the beautiful surroundings added to the overall experience. Beyond the delicious food and wine, the service was exceptional. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly, making us feel right at home. He took the time to answer our questions and guide us through the wine list, ensuring we had a truly memorable experience. Thank you so much for making my friends visit so special - I can’t wait to visit again!

Stopped here with my fiancé on our way up north. The wine was superb, and the manager Josh exacerbated the excellent experience by being informative, welcoming, and personable. We felt at home while working through our flights of red and white wine. We highly recommend and plan on stopping through again given the chance.

Lovely winery in a nice historic building, so match made in heaven for us - wine and history! We came in February on a cold snowy day so we didn’t walk around the grounds much but the area looked lovely. There’s plenty of seating both inside and outside, so that’s really good. We lived in many wine-producing countries, including Chile, France, Romania, Greece and now are learning about wines of Virginia, so we visited several wineries in this area and we thought that this particular one is a tad less relaxed than some others we went to on this trip - with schedule for reserved tastings, like, every half hour and every hour… but the most disappointing for us was that there are no flight tastings on weekends! I mean… isn’t that when most folks come to wineries, on weekends? I could be wrong (hold your judgement, lol) but seems that in attempt to prioritize profit (reserved tastings certainly cost more than tasting flights), they kinda miss out on popularizing their wines among those customers who didn’t have a reservation but wanted to learn more about this winery’s wines… oh well, just an opinion, but hence one star off…We tried the Cameo Rose and it was good; we came back home with a bottle. We also thought that it was great that they offer some food options, more than just cheese&crackers - they have sandwiches, charcuterie boards, warm baguettes with olive oil… Shout out to the young lady working on food options - great food presentation skills! Anyway, if you’re in the area, good place to visit.

Amazing atmosphere and staff and even better GM.As someone who has been to 100+ wineries and even more in Virginia ,he was the first people to truly breakdown and describe the intricacies of the North American and international wine making processes. Highly recommend if you are visiting the Shenandoah area.

Wonderful experience great local wine in white and red, live music and gorgeous scenery of the vineyard. Family with kids are welcome.

Beautiful scenery!!! Loved walking through the grape vines! Great countryside on the way to this Vinyard also. Wines are great! The staff is very very accommodating and works hard to meet the needs of customers. Really nice clientele. Personally, I could leave out the live music, I would rather hear the birds and the occasional cow (there is a neighboring farm with beautiful cattle!).The historic house has several interesting original rooms— great antiques downstairs— the 80s furnishings upstairs don’t work, but they are comfortable. There are designated areas that are 21 years of age and above. Please leave the babies and children at home! Can we have some adult time here??? Okay, this place is really large and there is plenty of room for everyone! We were able to find quiet corners in the house and outside for some privacy.Food was also good!Enjoy!

Jeff Wilson — Google review

Wine was so good, we got to sample a few before picking, and bread was SOO yummy. We joked we’d come back for the bread alone one day. Beautiful area to sit outside while you drink your wine.

Stephanie Paul — Google review

My personal favorite local Winery. Love their dessert port. Beautiful place and it's beautiful outside too with seating and plenty of parking and space to walk around.

Punkdesignercat — Google review

Josh was fantastic , the house is amazing and unique - but the wine is the star! We had the Antebellum and the 1807 Blend. Both were terrific! We are visiting the area from out of town, and only want to plan a time in the fall to return!

Nature & Parks

Dark Hollow Falls is a popular hike in Shenandoah National Park, offering picturesque cascading waterfalls over greenstone. The relatively short and easy 1.4-mile trail leads to one of the tallest waterfalls in the park. While the hike down is relatively easy, the uphill return may be challenging for some. The trail features scenic overlooks with unobstructed views of the Valley and several large falls at the bottom.

Short, but steep hike. Moderately difficult I'd say. The falls was beautiful in December. Exercise caution when you hike this during winters as there were few spots covered with slippery ice. No crowd when were there. Very relaxing.

Saiprabhu B — Google review

Overall it’s amazing and wonderful and would be 5/5 if it wasn’t for humans being humans.PLEASE READ THESE TIPS!!!-A lot of disrespectful foreigners that you need to be wary off.(Carry a weapon)-There is not enough parking so you will have to park in the grass or fight for a spot (Some foreigners started a fight)-Be patient and wait your turn because everyone runs to the waterfalls.(The further down you go, the less people)Just know that a lot of people swim in the waterfall so they don’t leave for hours!(It’s not even that deep of water)Pros: There is a waterfall every 5 minutes and feels like it never stops. There are no pets allowed so you don’t have to worry about that. You’re allowed to play in the waterfall, but be warned a lot of dirty people do this. The actual hike splits off into many different hikes, giving a large variety. It’s a pretty short hike to see the waterfall and not hard at all.Cons: Too many people know about the spot, causing a long line at each waterfall. There is an abnormal amount of foreigners that do not respect other humans and have no manners. There were fish in the small area by the waterfall, causing foreigners to kill them for some odd reason. The hike gets confusing dependent on what way you go, so be wary of the different routes. The only markers are different color markings on the trees and the occasional sign every 2 miles.

Raymond Brown — Google review

Short, relatively easy hike down. May be challenging on the hike back up for less physically active individuals. No dogs on this trail. Beautiful falls.

Trudi Heiselman — Google review

Dark Hollow Falls is one of my favorite waterfall hikes in the Shenandoah national park. I recommend this hike for anyone looking for a medium to rigorous hike. The hike down to the falls is easy, getting back to your vehicle however is a steep climb. I recommend this trail during the week, and very very early during the weekend. Dark Hollow is a very popular waterfall and the parking and trail will fill up quickly with tourists.

Carl Chrome — Google review

FANTASTIC HIKE. our kids did this (10/12) and we loved the hiking down, the water fall, and just being in the mountains. The climb up is rugged but it is a super nice trail and i love that it feels like you're nature.

Matt C — Google review

Do make it to the top. It’s calmer and quieter here. Look up and around and take in the beauty.

User 123 — Google review

This hike is honestly not that easy, there were so many large rocks on the trail, so much of an incline and the steps that were man made were very uneven. They highly recommend this hike and there were several elderly folks on the trail when I went and i think it should be noted that it’s just not a trail for everyone. I have been on several other hikes with MUCH better views and easier access. Also, there were SO MANY people that the view was not very enjoyable and the water fall itself wasn’t anything spectacular.

Kylie Currie — Google review

This is a very crowded trail without any other views but only some small waterfalls down the steep and slippery long trail. When I saw the waterfalls, I felt quite disappointed (my daughter said it was the saddest waterfalls she’d ever seen. 😂 ) After that, you have to climb up the same trail to get back to the parking lot.I won’t suggest you to take this hike if you are not very physically fit. Also, wear anti slippery hiking shoes/boots and better take hiking poles with you to keep from slipping if you go.The trail from the parking lot to the waterfalls and back is about 1.9 miles. Prepare to spend 1.5-2 hours. Seems late afternoon has the busiest traffic.

Angela Z-Frace — Google review

We did this hike at the end of October. It was cloudy and drizzling that day but I still enjoyed this hike throughly. The autumn color was perfect. I would rate this hike as easy. The incline was gradual through out the hike. One of my friends who did this hike with me was pregnant. She was able to do this hike with breaks intermittently.

Linda Inki — Google review

Beautiful trails that start going downhill (so yes, your return is all uphill). It's a relatively short trail about 1.5 miles roundtrip that has a cascade of scenic falls that lead to some very nice streams. It does cost $30 for a week pass to enter Shenandoah National Park. There are many scenic overlooks along the way that provide unobstructed views of the Valley. I highly recommend this trail and Falls but get there early to avoid the crowds especially around the Falls.

Brian Roy — Google review

This is a great creshending set of falls that start at the top at the trailhead and become step falls the farther you go down. Down at the bottom there are several large falls to view. It is under 3 miles round trip. Not for the faint of heart. You can go in at the trailhead and then come out on the other side via the fire trail. It is not real steep but uphill, and you will have a one mile trip up the main road to the trail head. The total round trip is about 4 mile. There are other falls close by to Dark Hollow. All I can say is come prepared. Temperature is nice in the summer at higher elevation. Parking is difficult during the summer months. Overall a great hike for my wife and I. Highly recommended.

Leonard Tippett — Google review

Amazing hike. Not to bad at all. This was the first hike I did upon arrival. Not busy, it was a Thursday afternoon. Plenty of photographs to be taken!

Adam — Google review

A very nice trail. I loved it. It took around 4 hours for ne to finish the trail loop.

Amir behravan — Google review

Short hike, but a tough climb back up to the trailhead. Beautiful falls. Really breathtaking. We went early in the day as we figured this was a busy trail. Didn’t have any problem parking at 8:30am, but the lot was very full throughout the late morning and afternoon (weekend).

Mountains

Grateful for the fellow travelers encountered along the journey—each one contributing their own essence to our experience as we ventured to ascend mountains and conquer stone formations. 🪨 Upon reaching the summit, uncertainty lingered on how to descend, a momentary pang of regret creeping in. Yet, the vistas from above left no room for remorse; it felt as though we had reached the pinnacle of this mountain's magnificence.

GSTonyTseng — Google review

My teenagers loved this hike! It is relatively short with absolutely amazing views at the top as long as you do not have a fear of heights. The rock scramble made the hike.

Amanda Sapp — Google review

Absolutely amazing views from Bearfence Mountain! Not the easiest climb, but we’ll worth the effort. There is a slightly easier trail if you don’t want to do the entire loop. The only downside with this trail is the super narrow trail most of the way up. Some hikers were very considerate, as I would expect from hikers, but there were so many people that just wanted to push past going in the same direction or opposite direction. Super frustrating!Well worth the trip! Highly recommend!!!

Joshua Ray Ogletree — Google review

The hike to Bearfence Mountain is one of my favorite hikes in Shenandoah! It's not very long, has some great scrambling to get to the top and then great 360° views at the top!!!

Matt Colson — Google review

This is a great hike with amazing views. The trail is only one mile total and can be completed in under an hour (not including breaks and time for taking pictures). As a word of warning, half of the loop involves rock scrambling and you should be prepared as well as physically fit enough to do it. For those who cannot, they can go up the way most people come down since it is a loop. I would also recommend that you go up the scrambling part first (go straight at the Appalachian trail junction) because you don’t want to have to scramble down. Also most of the great views are in the scrambling portion of the trail so if you take the alternate route up, you won’t see the views but you’ll see some nice rock formations.

C K — Google review

We hiked on Thursday morning and there were not very many other people on the trail. The view is amazing. It's a quick hike from the parking lot, but steep. Follow me @trailenvy for more!

trailenvy — Google review

There are two views on this trail. One's a 360 view and then the next one is a 180 view. This is also a rock scramble so bring hiking boots, watch for snakes, and just be careful. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the view. I have seen it Spring, Summer, and Winter. I have posted each one of the views. The best time is when it is cooler as the haze from the heat prevents you from seeing the Shenandoah Valley all the way past Harrisonburg, VA. The scramble can be tricky so know your limits and take your time. The trail is marked by blue blazes. If you need a map for this trail, ask the rangers, at the entrance of the park where you pay, for a Bearfence trail map. They'll be gladly to offer you one free of charge and it will help you figure out a generalized direction on the trail. The parking lot is on the right if you are heading southbound on Skyline Drive near mile marker 57. Cross the road and you'll be going up hill for a bit until you reach an intersection which is the AT(Appalachian Trail). Continue straight and you'll soon begin your scramble. Have fun and enjoy the view!

Ben Hatton — Google review

This trial was so much fun! If you like rock scrambling, and an insanely beautiful 360 view this is the one for you! Pictures can't do the experience any justice.

Mallory Barr — Google review

My favorite trail. Parking lot is across the road from the trailhead. You'll see many deer on this trail. The rock scramble is fun. Amazing, perfect views at the top.

Adam — Google review

This hike has 2 route options. One is moderate the other strenuous. You have the option to go up and down the moderate path but this will cause you to miss a 360 viewpoint.I went up the strenuous path, which requires some climbing. It is only about a mile loop. Beautiful 360 view about .2 miles into the rock climb. That said we saw children beasting this trail (maybe 7yo) as well as a cautious 60+ and 5yo (with parent aid). Somehow we missed the second viewpoint. So look out for signs. This would be difficult in the dark. So if seeking sunrise/sunset come prepared with lights.

Nature & Parks

The Luray Caverns, located in Virginia, are one of the most well-known and largest caverns on the East Coast of the United States. These vast underground tunnels have been forming for millions of years and showcase stunning natural wonders such as colossal stone formations, crystal clear pools, glistening draperies, and soaring stone columns. Visitors can tour the caverns and marvel at 140-ft. natural columns, colorful stalactites, and brick walkways.

This cavern is truly one of the.most spectacular natural wonders I have seen in my life. The history of how this cave was found by accident about 150 years ago is amazing. The tour of the cavern was well planned and thought out and responsibly preserved. The tour takes about an hour to walk and a very good camera is highly recommended.I suggest visiting during the off peak season so that you feel rushed through the cave. There is a small Cafe, a gift shop and a few other shops.I highly recommend this park to those who enjoy nature and for those who want to experience a once in a lifetime thrill.Pictures do not do this cave justice. It must seen in person to appreciate the beauty and amazement of this place.

Jaime Brownell — Google review

I heard from someone working at the front royal visitor's center that Luray caverns was the best in the area. It was a good 45 minute drive but it definitely did not disappoint! It was beautiful!!We went on a Monday evening and it was empty. They took our photos at the entrance and ended up being really cute souvenirs. The caverns themselves were really big. We took our time and read through all 19 stops on the tour (they had self guided tours with a brochure) I liked that we were able to go at our own pace and be able to take photos/ videos without other people photo bombing. There were pretty little lakes and huge formations. Great trip!

Laura Saatsoglou — Google review

A must see! Superbly arranged, roomy for those who may suffer from claustrophobia. Nearly all paths are brick layer and the path is very easy going. There is no climbing or such. Tour is self guided and takes about an hour. Plenty of parking. There is a very nice antique car collection, which is included on the $30.00 entry fee. Highly recommended!

Peter Papagiannakis — Google review

It's no doubt a neat trip for visiting a cave but the company is letting it slide. In the past ten years, the price has gone up and the tours are no longer guided. We visited today and it was a near free-for-all in the cave. A lot of people were touching the rock formations and leaving trash in the cavern. At this rate, considering how delicate the caves are, I wouldn't be surprised if it were eventually closed off to the public.

Nicholas H — Google review

The off season is the best time to visit. Absolutely no lines, many times we were the only ones in an area. The staff was knowledgeable and very friendly. Off season lol. The caves are incredible and stunning. The fun thing is they actually have a pretty cool car selection which we all enjoyed. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Steve Thomas — Google review

Absolutely gorgeous and worth the trip from Baltimore (and the ticket price). We got permission to go backward through the caverns and it was nice because it made it less crowded. I do imagine that they’ll not allow it anymore, though, because I could tell a few of them were slightly annoyed by it. Don’t ask about it and definitely don’t reference this post.

Tyler Stewart — Google review

The most beautiful and largest cave in the East coast you must see! It would take about an hour to walk through the cave but we really enjoyed every moment of it! Although it was crowded, it’s still plenty rooms and opportunities for you to taking pictures! Great place!

Kaylie Craig — Google review

Great way to easily experience the caverns! The self-guided tour is great, it allows you to stop and enjoy the quiet and beauty of each area. There are useful details about the formations in a guide pamphlet which is super helpful to understand everything. Added on the maze to the experience, it was so fun and worth the extra price. The whole experience was a lot of fun for all ages.

Elizabeth Hadden — Google review

Visited on a Thursday afternoon and it was decently crowded. My family of 3 was able to walk through the caverns in about an hour and it was spectacular. It is self-guided but you can pay for a guided tour. You are given a pamphlet with information as you walk through the caverns. Although it is definitely a tourist-y spot, I highly recommend checking this incredible place out as it is one of the great wonders of the east coast!

Brianna Ridenour — Google review

I have visited caves all around the world- Japan, Europe, Korea etc. This was by FAR the most breathtaking experience. The caverns were other-worldly. You MUST visit if you are close by! If you have kids, the caverns are pretty stroller (small stroller) friendly. Also, the crowds here aren’t bad at all, you have plenty of space to enjoy the trail.

Eleanore B. — Google review

We enjoyed this very much. We stayed up at big meadows campground during a very misty week so this was a nice break. The path is all one level, no steps. The only improvement I would like is the ability to get the headphones again or a guided tour. The pamphlet was helpful but we like to interact with tour guides make sure you check for discounts

Deanna Lewis — Google review

It was an amazing experience. It was my first time in a cavern, so it was incredible to me. The mirror caves were absolutely beautiful. It was a rainy day, so we got to see the water filtering inside the cave. The guides were very helpful. We got to hear the organ in the cathedral.

Ana Cruz — Google review

Having heard that these were the best caverns to visit in Virginia, I was eager to see them.On arrival the place was really busy, but we had not trouble parking in the parking lot.Entry was reasonably priced and after walking through the gift shop we headed to the caverns. Before you enter you have to have your photo taken so they can try and sell it to you on your way out.The caves are amazing to look at, and there are plenty of opportunities to take photos. The caverns are well lit but I do feel that missed a trick by not using coloured lighting. My only gripe would be the crowds. Lots of people just stopping and not letting people past. This caused a back log many times.About halfway round there are only so many rock formations you can look at before they all start to look alike. The route took about 1hr. Once out you walk back through the gift shop. There are other attractions available included in the price, but we were too hot and tired to experience them.

Andy Murfet — Google review

Really cool caverns with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites formations. There was also a very small underground lake that reflected the stalactites like a mirror. The temperature is cool (light jacket should be fine), can be slightly drippy if raining outside. Takes about 1 hr average to stroll leisurely and enjoy the view. The restroom is only available at the main building so make sure you empty your bladder before heading into the cavern. There are also other attractions in the complex such as the toy station, museum, etc. Parking was relatively easy, also free. All in all, certainly worth the ticket price.

Mario Christianto — Google review

Stunning- Nature’s magic at play. Great for families, kids or even a romantic get away. Lots to do other than just the Caverns. Plan ahead if you want to explore more than just the caverns and do other things like the Garden Maze , shopping etc.Definately bring your camera. The caves have a beautiful ‘Mirror lake’. Magical!!!

Muhnoo Sophia Jain — Google review

Went at the end of our spring break and it was really fun! It’s about 60-90 min to walk all the way through, depending on how long you stop for photos or listen to the organ. Many amazing sights and some parts of the caves are 7 million years old! Very interesting history and would recommend grabbing info pamphlet before you go through so you can follow along what each item is (they’re numbered). Tickets also include free admission to the toy museum and train/car museum next door. Really neat to see more historic items.

Lydia Kennedy — Google review

This place was really great. I checked previous pictures and had thought I would find something a bit different, for example: the wishing well; I thought it was bigger than what actually is (small) also, thought there was more water in it, but nope. I still enjoyed the place and had a great time. I went on Sunday and it was full of people, making it hard to take some pics but not a big deal either. No steps inside, it took a bit more than 1hr but did not feel it, I didn’t get tired either. I was ready to use a sweater inside but no need in my case. Restrooms are 8/10. Whenever you enter or exit you have to go through the shop they have, I didn’t like it because it was crowded inside the shop. Staff was friendly. Entry was 32USD per person.

Elena N — Google review

Beautiful. Pictures can not do it justice. My girlfriend and I made a detour on our trip home from PA to NC to see this place. We were amazed. I have hundreds of pictures/videos and they all look amazing. Put it on your bucket list. Must see.

Joshua Chapman — Google review

We had the best time here. I took my father and my grandson (who is 4) and my dad loved the ramp that was added from the last time he was here many years ago and my grandson practically skipped the entire time being in awe of everything to see.We lucked out and didn't realize the anniversary of the caverns being discovered was the same weekend we chose to go and they had lit hundreds of candles which only added to the ambiance. It was also nice and cool given the 90+ it was outside.

A Natachia TNT — Google review

Amazing experience, very beautiful cave and rock formations. The tours are self guided. However when your walking through, their will be families stopping and taking pictures, which holds up others that want to go bye. My experience there was an allot of kids running around, which annoyed others. But didn’t annoy me. I had a great time. Would definitely go back.

Morii — Google review

the caverns were amazing to see, easy to walk, we were there when they first opened mid weekday in winter and it was not crowded. It took about an hour and half total with a leisurely stroll. Kids really enjoyed seeing the different formations. There is a very large parking lot and was mostly empty when we went. By the time we got done the lot was about1/4 full.

James Hawthorne — Google review

Absolutely beautiful!! We really enjoyed the self guided tour. It's definitely worth the trip!! We visited from Michigan over New Years weekend. It wasn't terribly busy. We spent a few hours there between the caves, village, and museums. The ticket price is worth it for sure. You get to see and learn a lot. Our only issue was with people themselves. For some reason, people just can't seem to listen and follow rules, especially in the caves. It was sad to see so many people being disrespectful and touching the formations :(

Ashley Borgert — Google review

I was here in 2019 and now in 2024. I'm very excited. This is the best place. It’s safe to walk here and not be afraid that you will slip and fall, like in another cave that we were not far from this one. There is a very large cave here and there is something to see all the time. I regretted that we went to another cave because this cave is the best, the most beautiful, the most. I really liked it, thank you to the people who work there for your work. It's so good here that you don't want to leave. Photos can't convey how beautiful it is there.

Marina Komarova — Google review

Cool place to walk around if you enjoy caves. Did have an experience with one of the workers as we walked up on a private tour and we weren’t aware of it and just stood there being polite letting him finish talking only for him to rudely say anyone not part of the tour move along. I just think there was a better way to say it as we had no clue that’s what it was.

Victoria — Google review

Decided to head out to the caverns with the family. We have been to several caverns all over the world and this one was really good. The tour was good, the path was wheelchair friendly, the formations were amazing. The cavern organ performances were a bit of a let down. The car museum was okay but it was included in the price of the ticket. The biggest shock was the price at $34 a person. This is quite expensive. The cavern tour took us about 2 hours. There was plenty of parking.

Johnathon Edwards — Google review

What an experience! This place is truly out of this world. The tickets included the Luray Caverns Self-Guided Tour, the Car & Carriage Caravan Museum, Shenandoah Heritage Village, and Toy Town Junction. There's also garden maze, rope adventure park and gem sluice for additional price.I wish we had more time to explore, so we hope to be back soon.

It's a very nice vacation destination to see the beauty of another side of the world. Luray caverns is very good experience, and nice to see the under earth beauty. The mirror image beauty is awesome. Nice maintenance inside caverns. Enjoyed the trip and Skyline drive as well.

It was my revisit after 28 years. Back then it was not as nice as now. Cavern was renovated during 2017 ~ 2019 and it looks much nicer and corridor was nicely renovated. My kids loved the cavern and it is must visit place when you have kids. It takes little less than 1 and half hours to complete the tour and loved it. Ticket price is $34 for adult and $17 for kids(6-12), Free for under age 6

We really enjoyed going through this museum (we are our late 20s). I took several pictures to show my grandpa - he really loves older cars! It was terrific that this was included with our tickets to Luray Caverns - and I would consider this a don't miss attraction if you're already visiting them. They had a wide variety of cars over several decades. Go take a look!

Small car museum but lots crammed into it all. Amazing cars, it had some of the rarest and important vehicles in vehicle history. Some of Roosevelt’s vehicles. There were several cars worth a few million dollars each. Amazing collection.

Deb Clif — Google review

Unexpected little gem of old vehicles museum included in Luray Caves ticket.Small space filled with cars - likely would be better in larger space allowing to examine cars from multiple directions.Still, great selection in fantastic condition.

Sam Aberman — Google review

I loved the experience inside the place. The cars are arranged chronologically. There is a float and even an RR. The cars are in excellent condition. It is worth visiting and seeing each of the cars in detail. The place is small but has what you need. They even have mannequins dressed in period clothing. They have a wide variety of cars.

You will love this place if you are a vintage car fan. It has a great collection of cars from the early 1900s. You may not see some of the cars anywhere in the world. You will get free access to it if you buy the ticket for the Luray Caverns.

This is such a cool historic car museum! I'm not at all a car guy but really enjoyed looking at all of these older cars! Lots of cool designs and crazy to see how we have advanced over the years.

Michael Encinosa — Google review

An amazing collection of vintage cars maintained in pristine condition. They have one of the oldest commercially produced Mercedes Benz, lots of carriages, Ford, Chevy etc… They have a couple of cars brands that I never heard of.This place is a car enthusiast’s dream. The only drawback is that some of the lights are not well positioned and the place is super crammed.

This is a nice little museum. It’s included with cost of admission to the caverns on the same property. It’s probably a little bit too small as a stand alone attraction, but it’s worth the time to pass through and look around at these old rides while you’re there. One unique thing I liked was the old shop stuff, like the tire vulcanizer, the coil tester, and vintage gas pump. It would be cool if there were more and/or a tour guide(perhaps recorded on a device so you could listen with ear buds). The old kid stuff was interesting. They have a souvenir/gift shop here too.

K Lap — Google review

Loved strolling through the museum. The pass to the Caverns covers entry to the museum and a few other nearby attractions. Lots of vintage automobiles on display. Well maintained.

Varun Kudchadker — Google review

Approximately 30 very old cars from the first few decades of automobile mass production. Some big name manufacturers you would recognize, and others you won't. Very good condition vehicles and useful information posted.

This Museum is for Car lovers only!!! A very good collection of old, vintage and amazing cars of reputed brands showcased at this place. Ford, Rolls Royce, Chervolet, Buik, Stanley, Baker brand cars from the 18th and 19th centuries displayed in the museum. It's a very rare collection of cars. Don't worry about the ticket as it's included in the Luray Caverns Ticket. You can spend half an hour in the museum.

Amol More — Google review

A big collection of vintage cars to attract the car lovers. All the 1900 century cars and how the technology advanced from there to now-a-days are well presented in the packed museum. Bonus is free admission with the Luray cavern ticket and you don’t have to pay additional fees.

Nishan Biswas — Google review

The Luray Valley Car and Carriage Museum is an absolute gem 💎, I would call it a car lovers paradise. While the museum is only small, it does make up with some very special exhibits that I have not seen before. The cars are in great condition and well looked after. If you are visiting the Luray Caverns and not taking the time to visit the car museum, you are letting the best in life go by.

The car museum was an unexpected delight. Even for those not particularly inclined towards cars, the collection was impressive. From vintage classics to modern marvels, the museum showcased a diverse array of automobiles. The attention to detail and the historical context provided for each vehicle spoke volumes about the dedication and care put into curating this exhibit. In summary, Luray Caverns offers a dual delight - a journey through nature's time-honored masterpiece and a captivating tour of automotive history.

Wow! Nice to see all vintage cars from initial Era and horse pulling vehicles as well. Lots of collection. Getting entry with Luray caverns tickets.

Incredible collection of vintage cars, wagons and coaches. Collection could use a bigger space than it has currently has. Admission included with Luray cavern tickets

Classic and vintage car collection. Literally want to ride all the cars and carriages. Good experience to visit an amazing museum.

This was a very interesting place and amazing how well these cars are taken care of and how little they cost back in the day. It is free with the caverns ticket.

Eclectic, polished B&B with airy rooms set in a boutique winery & offering mountain views.

Excellent wine. Very fine chocolate. Utterly amazing Glass House/ hot house/greenhouse with fabulous plants inside and out and crazy cool eclectic works of art, from sculpture to tile work to painted works. All in the beautiful northwestern Albemarle countryside. Love it every time I go.

William Rossberg — Google review

We had a wonderful experience at this winery, and I highly recommend visiting. They have sensational views as well as a delightful indoor garden. The staff was also marvelous! The girl who gave us the tastings was cordial and witty. She also makes some incredible chocolates, which she was kind enough to show us the chocolate room.

michael bachschmid — Google review

Beautiful winery showcasing excellent reds and whites. Service by Jessica ( owner Jay’s daughter) in tasting room was top notch. She is very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the nuances of each wine. The 21st red blend is complex with a lasting and elegant finish. But what makes this winery so unique is the stunning tropical greenhouse building. What a cool 😎 ambience to enjoy their well-crafted juice and the talented musical groups.. Of the many VA wineries visited, this by far is my new favorite!

Had our wedding here on 5/1/22. It was a dream come true. The Glass House is the perfect setting for an intimate wedding. Theresa and Jessica helped make our day so special and we were really able to customize what we wanted for the ceremony and reception. Feel so lucky to have found such a hidden gem and would recommend the space to anyone looking for an affordable, gorgeous venue.

Although we have visited this winery other times in the past, it has become our go to location on Christmas day. One of the few places open, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Met the new owner, Jay Smith, and he was delightful. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip this holiday!

Stopped in to try wine and chocolates. The wine is good but the chocolates are divine. Beautiful surroundings lovely green house. Olivia was a delight to have serve us and just to talk to about the plants.

Scott DeHart — Google review

Glass House Winery did an amazing job making our wedding reception memorable. Their pricing scheme is super reasonable for what you get (which is rare to find these days!), Theresa and the rest of the Glass House staff were absolutely amazing, and planning and communication leading up to the day of our event made everything a breeze. The location is beautiful and our guests commented all night about how good the wine was and how beautiful the space was! Thank you again Glass House for everything you did to make our day special!

Wonderful place. The atmosphere is breathtaking, the wines are delectable, and the staff is personable and friendly. You absolutely have to go.

blaine pearce — Google review

Jay and his team were excellent. My wife and I had a great time. We suggest the chocolate with the tastings, super yummy. The winery, music and bnb were great the only reason I gave it a 4 on location is it was a little isolated.

Edward Ryan — Google review

You will have the most amazing host ever when you arrive! Tim is a trained chef and is enjoying making his breakfasts the best ever. The location is a bit out of the way of anything else, so it is great to get an escape, but you will have to drive for food. However, once you bring in your food, you have a refrigerator and full access to a kitchen, so you don't need to go out.The wines are pretty good, and they do have a good view if you are just going for that. However, I recommend taking at least one night to stay just to be in the peace and quiet.

Jennifer Ramsey — Google review

Lovely setting overlooking A small lake, The greenhouse filled with tropical plants is also a very nice place to sit and sip wine in a fairly private gorgeous setting. Also air conditioned! We didn’t do a wine tasting, but had the Chardonnay, and Rose (see photo). The Chardonnay was both of our favorites. It was dry and crisp. We visited another larger winery in the area, and the Glass House had by far the best wines hands down. Wish we’d not gone to the other one further north.

Lisa Casassa — Google review

Delicious wine & chocolate pairing, fine selection of charcuterie type snacks, dog friendly, and PHENOMENAL service! I can’t wait to return. The ladies working there when we visited treated us like VIP guests, the service was amazing, knowledgeable, and friendly, the warmth they exuded was authentic. The setting was gorgeous and peaceful, the garden inside was stunning & lush. I’ll be recommending to anyone visiting the area. 100% recommend getting the chocolate pairing flight. I tried that and then had some Cab Franc, taking home a bottle of Chardonnay and a box of chocolates for later. Thank you Glass House Winery!!

Sylvia L — Google review

Hostess was very friendly. Oyster truck served outstanding grilled oysters to order. Having a table by the pond and the ability to bring our own appetizers and picnic spread was spot on for us. The glass house area was beautiful and did not disappoint. They offered some of their own vintages along with wines from other Virginia locations to provide a well-balanced offering to those looking for lots of options. Giving a glass stopper with the bottle was a novel touch.

James Skapars — Google review

Gorgeous place! We loved the green house, it was so nice and cool in the summer heat. There was a huge area for picnicking. Theresa and Jessica were very friendly and helpful. Wine was yum.

Overall, this was the perfect place to wait out a passing storm on our bike tour. The land and building are beautiful, the staff is welcoming and knowledgeable, there are packaged snacks to pair with the wine, and the lounge is very cozy. I only kept back one star because the wine is generally a bit sweet for my taste, but there was a very good Chardonnay on the menu that convinced us to buy a bottle.

Wonderful experience! We tried ten wines and loved all of them (which is quite rare for us)! We've tried many VA wines throughout the years and were impressed during our first visit.

Bonnie Brletich — Google review

Interesting and wonderful wines in a quiet and lovely setting. In the landscape of busy, hom*ogeneous Virginia wineries, this one really stood out. We can’t wait to come back!

Siobhan Starrs — Google review

A beautiful little German style winery. Tucked away off of Route 81 nestled between the hills is the second oldest vineyard in the Shenandoah. Founded in 1985 as I understand it with its original vines still growing. We had a nice little sit down and enjoyed a wine flight tasting. My wife did the reds and I tried the semi-sweet flight. We also bought some cheese and crackers and enjoyed our tastings outside on the nice deck. The wines are pretty good. The semi-sweet flight is perfect for those who like a little sweetness but def not dessert wine! Def recommend!

Tyrone Paige — Google review

A hidden gem in the Shenandoah Valley. All of their wines are VERY unique in taste. You need to try both their white and red wines. The winemaker is a geologist who does a great job at making the wines taste as it states in the description. If you love unique wines, this place is a must try.

Alex Love — Google review

What a wonderful winery. Beautiful location. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Enjoyed all the wines we tasted. Next trip thro Virginia, we'll see you again. Thanks for great wine tasting in a relaxing atmosphere.

Deb M — Google review

Wasn’t too impressed with this location. It gave me a “grandma’s house” vibe with the style, and the white wines that my wife tried were not too impressive. The midnight red was pretty good.

This is a review of my first North Mountain Winery experience on 3-12-21. To begin, I have to say that as far as a setting, North Mountain's is top notch, but one of the drawbacks is that no matter how you access it, you have to go by gravel road. I feel like this might be important information for those that don't want to go off the paved path. Google Maps led me through the back roads out of Woodstock to the winery. The worst of it is actually the driveway from the road to the main building.Next, I recognize that we've been in a pandemic and I certainly applaud those businesses that have taken the necessary steps to protect their patrons, but I feel like they might be going overboard here at North Mountain, as no guests are permitted to enter the building where the tasting room and bathrooms are located. Yes, you read that right... no public bathroom access if you're visiting this winery. All wine is ordered and served outside. I've been to other wineries and breweries over the last year when possible, and while all of them required masks and social distancing, this is the only one I've seen to this point that cut off access completely, to the point that guests they're selling beer and wine to can't access the bathrooms. Speaking of accessibility, there's no handicap access to anywhere here where you would place an order. All public entrances are accessed by stairs, as far as I could tell.On to the wine - we ordered two flights, which are broken up by reds and whites, five per flight. You can't order flights that mix reds and white wines, so if you want to sample both, you have to order both flights, which are $15. The flights are served in five 2 oz. pours in plastic ramekins like that you might serve ranch dressing in with a salad or an order of wings. They can't be bothered with glassware here like the other wineries and breweries that are operating now under the same pandemic. If you do want real glass, you have to bring it yourself or buy theirs. The five wines in the white wine flight that I ordered were the 2017 Grüner Veltliner, 2016 Vidal Blanc, 2016 Chardonnay, 2017 Zweigelt Rosé and the 2017 Riesling. Of the five, I recommend the Vidal Blanc. None of these wines made me feel like staying and paying for an additional bottle on top of the two flights (one red, one white) that were ordered. In short, if you're able bodied (can climb stairs) and aren't planning on staying very long at North Mountain, I recommend taking your own glasses, and ordering a bottle of the Vidal Blanc ($20).

No one around, peaceful, relaxing wine tasting on a lovely deck surrounded by the overloaded grape vines in the vineyard. Christa was delightful to meet! Looking forward to a return visit!

Melinda Downie — Google review

One of the staff at North Mountain was very rude to us on our last visit. It went so horribly wrong and we will not be going back. There are so many other vineyards around that we do not need to get treated this way by a staff member.

A very helpful staff working the beautiful grounds. They have a handful of products to purchase, including wine, local honey, and cheeses. I went with the suggested red and white and am very pleased with what I was given.

Nice and relaxing on the Friday of Labor Day weekend - not too busy, so plenty of good tables available and short wait at the counter. I had the red flight (18 and 19 Meritages, 21 Petite Verdot); all were excellent. I liked the '18 best, even though the '19 is more highly awarded. My wife's favorite is the Sauvignon Blanc, so she had that by the glass instead of the white flight. My only regret: the Cab Franc, usually my favorite, wasn't on the flight.

Doug Smith — Google review

We have been enjoying this place for years and it just keeps getting better. Tasting room manager Jessie always takes great care of us, the views are amazing and the wine is spot on, every time. Love it!

Donald Giannangeli — Google review

Small, casual vineyard with excellent wines. The tasting room is small, so recommend saving it for a good-weather day when you can sit on the aderondak chairs by the vines. I like that it was quieter and smaller than the big, busy places nearby.

Emily Wagner — Google review

There is a reason we moved out of Virginia and kept our wine club membership to this incredible vineyard. Out of the dozens of wine spots we visited in Central VA during our 15 years in Charlottesville, Stinson won our hearts with its incredible wine, breathtaking scenery, and laid-back vibe that makes you feel like family. You have so many options when you visit this area in terms of wineries to check out - take it from me - this is the one. This small family-run business cares deeply about winemaking and taking great care of people, and it shows.

Emily Doyle — Google review

A wonderful vineyard just 30 minutes from Charlottesville. This place is unassuming, small but absolutely lovely. The drive was beautiful- along the farms and on the gorgeous Virginia countryside. The place is tucked behind a building and there is a small sign to let you know you’ve arrived! We went on a cold February afternoon, it was serene, quiet and the mountains in the background were stunning. The view of the vines from the patio is delightful and the wines were nice. Their 2019 Cabernet had just won a prize the week before and I’m glad we were able to sample it. We didn’t linger as it was cold but we will certainly be back when the weather is nicer and the vines have sprouted.

MarivicB — Google review

This place was monies from Sugar Hollow and we we’re definitely ready to settle in and try some wines. While the views were pretty, it was a bit small for my taste, but the people were lovely and the wine was very unique

Sara Pomeroy — Google review

Fantastic wines and a great atmosphere. The staff are always very knowledgeable about the wines, not like a lot of the “vineyards” and “wineries” in the area. These folks know their stuff. Every wine I taste there is fantastic. I’m not even a fan of white wines, but Stinson has converted me with their buttery-soft Chardonnay. It’s peaceful enough to want to stay a while and enjoy the mountain views just past the vines. Easily one of my favorite Virginia wineries.

Such a great visit here. Went on mother's day and on top of being given a lovely peony, the staff were so so friendly and knowledgeable. Then, of course, the wine!!! So delicious. The Blanc meritage and Chardonnay were two of my favorites on that warm day.

A friend of mine and I were on our way to a winery earlier this year during a snow blizzard and saw the signage for the Grace Estate Winery. For some reason both of us suggested we change course.. And we were not disappointed. The venue itself was warm (amazing fireplace); simply and elegant. We made ourselves comfortable on the ledge sofa in front of the fire place and enjoyed an amazing wine tasting experience. It was also wonderful to learn about Grace Estate’s history and position in the local community as well as it’s role with other wineries. It’s one of the places that I can be there with friends as much as I can come on my own to have a quiet drink. While it’s too far to be my local, it’s worth that extra drive.

Dina A Najia — Google review

Grace Estate is wonderful. We love the premium wine and the new tasting room manager is so so nice. The views are fantastic. It is truly a cozy family owned place.

Miles Davis — Google review

Grace Estate Winery has one of the best views around and don’t get me started with the rustic tasting room. If you can’t tell I’m all about atmosphere and Grace has one of the best in central Virginia. For me personally, I love drinking a glass on the back deck, admiring the view while hanging with friends and family. Please check it out! You won’t be disappointed

The Central Wine Trail is our choice for great wine when my Wife and I leave Hampton Roads. Grace Winery definitely is always on our list to visit. The warm welcomes we always receive at Grace, also to mention the scenic setting and the great wines make our trip such a pleasure. Worst winery I have ever been too. If I could give them zero stars I would. I was there when the owner was in and she was Absolutely the worst person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting, yelling at staff and belittling everyone in the place. Best thing that could happen is for them to close down. -100/10 would never go back again

Joe McHarrison — Google review

The grounds itself was beautiful but we were only able to go as far as the tasting room. Jim was great. Why I gave two stars:We made a appointment with Natalia to tour for a potiental wedding venue. When we were running late my fiance called her to let her know and turned out she wouldnt have been there anyway. She didnt bother to call us and let us know she was too busy to show the venue. On top of this after asking 3x, we never received a wedding brochure. Natalia alone turned me off from wanting to have a wedding here. Which was very disappointing because I was very excited to tour since we had one of our first dates here.Edit: In response to Natalia, the lack of accountability further confirms my point the process was unprofessional. Even if there was no other area to tour, you could have shown us where the weddings actually take place outside, answered questions, etc. The free tasting was the least the winery could do for our experience. Thank you for further confirming my decision not to give this place the time of day. Will not be back again.

Courtney — Google review

The best winery we went to today! Lane was fantastic, how does taste a variety of wines that we absolutely loved... I tried the whites-only list, which made me so happy that they offered that as an option, and my husband tried the standard... They also offer a Red's only tasting list. The tasting was affordable, the wines were delicious, and overall we just had an excellent time! Highly recommend, it is a must stop at on your tour of the Monticello wine trail... Excellent!

Tim Busekrus — Google review

Really enjoyed this winery; they had tastes of their library and I really enjoyed the 21012 Vidal Blanc, and had a taste of the more recent Sauvignon Blanc and it was lovely!!!

Melissa Kehl — Google review

They definitely create some good red wines and I appreciate that all of the wines are born of grapes from their estate. It is true Virginia wine. The only reason they lost a star is that our wine server wasn’t as knowledgeable as I would’ve liked him to be. It was clear that he was newer to wine, which is okay, but I appreciate hearing the intricacies of wine. Their Merlot is easily their best wine, the others are great as well but as far as drinkability goes, the Merlot takes the cake. The grounds were nice too and there were picnic tables for lounging outside and enjoying the views. A nice little gem in Albermarle County.

E K — Google review

A 6-mile natural tunnel system accessible through seasonal guided tours, with an on-site campground.

We absolutely love this campground. Staff is super friendly. They bring you to your site for the first time, which is really nice when you are not familiar with the area. Our cavern tour guide, Jake, was awesome. He really made the experience fun and special for our children. Needless to say, we will definitely be coming back for future vacations.

Patrick Campion — Google review

Enjoyed our 5 night stay in this quiet campground surrounded by trees and nature. The owners were extremely accommodating and pleasant. The cavern tour on-site was amazing and the tour guide Jake was very informative and entertaining. The reason for 4 stars versus 5 is the gravel dust that would rise as cars drove by which wasn’t too bad but would have been a lot worse if the park would have been full. Aside from that would recommend and would consider returning.

Maggie Chaviano — Google review

We only came for the caverns. Great experience overall. The guide Wyatt gave lots of good facts while adding some humor. The best part is he always had the answer to the groups questions. We even had someone in the group slip and he was super quick to help and make sure everyone was alright. We had a larger group and even though we did get to see everything we didn’t get to stop in all rooms. Wyatt did a great job explaining it before we went through each section of the cavern. Very affordable and it was a great thing for our group to do for about 90 min. Definitely give it a shot if you’re considering any cavern in the area. We will definitely be back.

Amazing!! My son has never been on a cavern tour before. Whitney was our tour guide ans she was AWESOME!! She made it fun and educational for my son. And the price was very resaonable $22 a person. Great attraction! We apent more money in the gift shop than on the tour.

Amazing camping experience in Virginia just a short ride from Shenandoah National Park. We were greeted by Tracey our campground host who was very welcoming and escorted us to our campsite. She provided lots of advice, recommendations and a menu for w pizza place that delivered directly to you campsite. Well maintained and clean sites, you can tell that they really care about the area. There are hiking trails and cavern tours right on the campground. Strenuous hike but worth it for the view. Can't wait to come back!

Endless Caverns RV Resort and Cavern Tours was above and beyond our expectations. We had a group of 4 RVs containing 8 adults. Our initial greeting when we arrived was with TRACY and we immediately felt welcome and at "home" . TRACY made sure we got to our sites and routed us so we backed in on the drivers side :) we saw TRACY numerous times during our 6 day stay and she always asked how things were and took time to chat a little with her genuine southern charm making us feel comfortable like we were longtime friends. TRACY is one reason to visit this Resort she loves her job.The sites are very big and all have Full hook ups... our site was so level we didn't need any leveling items. We did the on site cavern tour with WYATT another amazing staff member who knew so much about the cavern and explained many details in a way both the young and the old on the tour enjoyed it.FAYE in the office/store took time out of her day to give us the background on the facility and the beautiful covered walk ways and buildings. We even chatted with the building and grounds manager when he asked how our day was going ...The pool was clean and inviting with plenty of seating and umbrellas. The bath houses / showers were clean and spacious. The proximity to interstate 81 is definitely a plus with attractions, restaurants, ice cream and shopping nearby. We will visit Endless Caverns RV Resort again !

We stayed at Endless Caverns for the Spring Break and loved it!!! The campground is very clean, the host (Tracy) was very friendly and always available to help us with anything. The staff from the main office were very welcoming and friendly as well. The campground felt very safe, very spacious, clean, and easy to navigate. The bathhouse is very clean. Our animals loved it too!!!We will be back again!!!

Great, rustic campground. Loved all the rocks used in landscaping. Most sites looked pretty level (ours was perfect; E50). The cavern tour on site was more than I expected! The old, stone buildings were beautiful and fun to explore. Our kids loved the playground and swing sets throughout the grounds. The hike up the mountainside to the giant sign was strenuous but short. Campground is close to lots of things; downtown New Market, Storybook Trail, Civil War Museum, Luray Caverns and Cooter's Dukes of Hazzard museum/store/cafe.

Just left campground and what a nice experience. Office staff was very friendly, Campground host,Duane was extremely helpful in giving us tips on where to go and what to see in the area…..especially the “chip” factory! The cavern tour was great, our guide, Jake was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Will definitely return.

Endless Caverns is an excellent vacation spot. It wasn't too crowded. The cavern tour was absolutely one-of-a-kind. Definitely more appealing and adventurous than the other huge one in the area. I recommend going and checking it out for yourself. You cannot beat the small group tour guide.

What a wonderful gem of a place! We had such a great 4 night stay at Endless Caverns RV resort. The sites were level. The surroundings were beautiful. The tour and the tour guide we had of the cave itself was absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend Endless Caverns to everyone!

Sites are easy access, clean with ample privacy. The moderately dense wooded location makes for great bird watching especially in the early morning when most campers are taking their time to awaken.Very quiet and peaceful.Staff is very accommodating.Would be a good idea to attend to picnic table maintenance, they are acceptable, but beginning to show definite signs of wear.Took the cave tour, it was great, leisurely and well guided by our tour guide Wyatt.

Terrific campground! Very friendly camp host, nice sized shaded camp sites, and very clean (like super super clean) restrooms. Pool and playground were great for kids. Fishing pond was fun. Oh yeah, and there were endless caverns! We greatly enjoyed the caves with its incredible natural beauty and massive expanse.

My husband and I stayed here at Endless Caverns for a week in July, and we absolutely would go back there again. The staff was very helpful and nice, and Dwayne helped us right away as our Class A was not leveling out on our first spot so he moved us to another spot. The campgrounds were clean as were the laundry and restroom/ showers. So peaceful and relaxing there. We didn’t do the cavern tour because we had our fur baby with us but next time for sure. The grounds and fishing pond were always cleaned and we had the best time going out and sight seeing. If you have never been, we recommend that you go stay with them, they have cabins as well that look awesome!!! Thank you Endless Cavern's for a wonderful stay, we will be back.

The tour was awesome, Wyatt was a fantastic tour guide. The caverns were amazing. It's definitely worth the money and the drive. I didn't stay at the resort, but I can imagine they would be a 5 star as well

We stayed at the RV campground for 2 nights and had a great time. The campground is very quiet, clean, and nicely wooded. Sites are spacious. Cool playground for the little ones. Tracy was very friendly and helpful. We also visited the caverns and really enjoyed them. Wyatt our tour guide was funny and knowledgeable. Highly recommend both!

We stayed at this campground October 2023 and was surprised to find out how they actually ran this place. Let me be the first to warn ALL large rigs NOT to allow them to park you in section E. You will not be able to level you rig, you will also scrape and damage you vehicle not to mention your neighbors awning will be touching your camper. BEWARE 30amp receptacles wired to a 20 amp breaker, septic is UPHILL on site E36. 2 of the 5 washers worked and only 1 dryer. Coin operated but NO change machine around. Our friends stayed in the cabins and they where very nice.I think it's just rude management not to take into consideration the damage that can be caused to others expensive property.

Endless Caverns was beautiful and a nice treat on a hot day! Outside it was 85 degrees and 55 degrees in the cavern! The staff were very pleasant and the guide was very knowledgeable. There was 2 kiddos in the group who asked a lot of questions and the guide was able to keep up with them! If you have littles that like to touch things this is NOT the place to bring them. Also anyone scared of dark closed areas not a good place for you either. It was neat seeing how the history evolved in the cavern, from using candles to light their was to using generators for electricity. All the wires are still present. When going in and out of areas the lights are switched on and off as you move through with your guide. These caverns are rich with history and beauty if your into nature below the surface. Definitely recommend if you up to a lot of walking and going up and down steps.

We had a great tour experience this weekend! Our tour guide, Jake, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and great with our kids! Highly recommended taking a tour here! Plus the area is gorgeous just to walk around if you have time to kill before the tour starts!

We LOVED this campground!! Just so perfect being in the woods with the changing leaves and having a true camping experience (while still enjoying a full hookup!). Playground, fishing pond, trails and cavern tour (thanks, Wyatt!) were all great as well! Would highly recommend this campground - sitting out at the fire pit at night amongst the trees and stars is just perfection. And a great location - just 20 mins from Harrisonburg and about 50 minutes from Shenandoah National Park (but it’s a pretty drive!).

Water & Amusem*nt Parks

Energetic aquatic park featuring indoor & seasonal outdoor waterslides & pools, plus an arcade.

We all had a ball plan to revisit again... Loads of things to do for every age group. Life guards every where. Plenty places to sit. Great food.

Lisha Faith — Google review

Always a great getaway for the kids. The water park is amazing BUT not enough concession options when we were there. The line to the snack bar was literally an hour and half. Very sad. Other than that, all was okay.

GoodConsuma I. — Google review

This place is fun not just for the kids, but adults as well. I have come here a few times over the past 10 years. They are always adding new attractions or making updates to the park. I suggest getting your moneys worth. Get there when they open and leave about 20 minutes before they close. There are both indoor and outdoor attractions. Slides, tubes, lazy river, pool basketball, hot tubs and more. There are a few attractions for smaller kids but not that many. If you don’t like water, you can rent a cabana outside for the day and relax. There is a snack bar that serves alcohol as well. They are a little pricey so I would suggest bringing some drinks and sandwiches or snacks. Wheelchair and handicap accessible. Small gift shop on the top floor. Overall a great experience and definitely worth the price of admission. Make sure to check times before arriving. Different open and close times most days. Can’t wait to come back!

Andrew Izzo — Google review

First and foremost, although I typically refrain from composing reviews, my recent experience compels me to share my sentiments. Upon arrival, I was promptly informed that the park had reached full capacity. Accompanying me were six individuals, four of whom possessed tickets acquired through a timeshare presentation incentive. While I acknowledge the unconventional method of obtaining four tickets, priced at a steep $70 per person, the situation is nonetheless disheartening. It raises questions regarding the park's policies: if they had indeed sold out, the issuance of tickets to those without prior reservations should have been preempted. Consequently, one would expect the option to procure additional tickets for the remaining members of my party, if not at least one or two. Regrettably, this was not the case.Furthermore, it came as a disappointment that towels were not provided by the park. This lack of amenities necessitates visitors to bring their own. Moreover, despite being aware that only the indoor water park was operational, the absence of the main attraction, the meltdown tower of water, compounded our dissatisfaction. Such an omission denies children the opportunity to experience a significant highlight of the park. Notably, my children, upon reflecting on our past experiences, expressed a preference for establishments such as Westgate Town Center in Florida or even Great Wolf Lodge.Additionally, the absence of a dedicated swimming pool for children, coupled with a limited operating time from 3 pm to 7 pm, leaves much to be desired. The recent opening of a section at 3:50 pm only serves to underscore the lack of foresight in managing the park's resources efficiently. While there is an inclination to delve further into the myriad inconveniences experienced during our stay, including the absence of towels, malfunctioning dryers, and the unwelcome presence of big black ants in the cabinets, such matters warrant a separate review dedicated to the resort itself. In summation, the overarching sentiment is one of dissatisfaction. The anticipation for a memorable experience was met with disappointment, exacerbated by the myriad shortcomings encountered throughout our visit. As of April 3, 2024, at 3:53 pm, it is regrettable to acknowledge that our expectations were not met, and the experience fell short of what was anticipated.

Very fun water park! Did not get pictures of the arcade but they have recently expanded it, while adding a larger prize booth. The rides were absent of any long lines despite going on a Saturday. The staff are friendly and attentive. Rides for people of all ages, our favorite was the 3 person tube slides that are really fast. The wave machine was really unique. $53 a person was a little high for me, since you can do everything in the water park within 2 hours even on a busy day. If you do not book your passes online, expect to pay around $7 to $10 dollars more. Also, staying on the resort property does not get you any discounts unless you are a member. Will definitely visit again!

A true gem of the Shenandoah Valley! Massanutten has always been our favorite way to end summer break. The indoor waterpark is perfect for winter getways on the lazy River and great for big and littles alike with a multitude of waterslides for all ages. The expansive water fun system is hours of play for everyone. The outside is a true oasis. I highly suggest renting a cabana, grabbing a frozen drink, and letting you big kids have hours of fun in the wave pool, the huge rainbow slide or even take your littles to the obstacles, splash pad or the basketball dunk pool. The service was top-notch, and the lifeguards are even better! If you have been thinking of a cool weekend getaway for a waterpark. This is it!

karla snell — Google review

Small compared to the amount of people they let in. No room to swim. Doors left open, so it was cold. Just packed. The resort was nice, but not many resort activities, just the expensive adventure stuff. For the most expensive part of the resort, the cleaning staff needs to pay better attention. Too many requirements before checkout. Usually, it's get out before 10am. At Massanutten it's start the dishwasher, strip the beds, and take out the trash, and get out by 10am. Too expensive for all of that. Hospitality is lost when you mention you don't want to purchase vacation ownership with them.

Tons of fun! My kids and the adults had a blast! We came here in October and only did the indoor areas. So much fun! So much to do and see! Definitely will do this often as possible!

We had so much fun! Place was not to full on Monday 3h before closing and we had tons of rides. Kids ages 10, 12 and 14 and the parents all enjoyed our time. Staff was great and customer service delightful as I bought an extra ticket online for the wrong day and they totally had no problem addressing a refund!5- stars! You can bring your towel. No more pics as I put phone away and had fun instead.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the Massanutten Indoor/outdoorWater Park. There are exciting water activities & relaxing water activities as well. Things for young kids & things for older/less mobile adults. We had a great time. Note: I suggest eating before going & then eating afterwards "outside" of the park. This is because the food is a bit pricey for a family. 12 to 13 bucks for one single burger (not including fries or drink). Also, the food is just "average food at best. That's the only constructive criticism I have. Aside from that, it was a great.

Vernon Eason — Google review

Pricey, but we had a full day of fun. You can play indoors or outdoors. There is food on-site available. Lockers for rent $30. You'll get either $10 back or a $15 arcade card with locker key return. It was clean. Lifeguards are attentive.

Huge Indoor Park! Tickets are steep but if you’re on vacay, you want to be in there! Buying tickets in advance on website is helpful and a little cheaper.

This review is for Christmas lights. Went there for Christmas Lights that they are doing it for the first time in the Outdoor section of the Waterpark. Overall, it was a good experience, something new. Buy tickets online to save. They have a little coffee shop set up there with a selection of coffee and sweets. At the time of my visit, the credit card machine was not working, so I had to pay with cash. The downside is that it is small if you compare it to price. $20 for 10-15 min walk..

We were celebrating our granddaughters birthday. First time visiting. Loved it! I was very impressed with the life guards, shocked at the number of missing toddlers I witnessed them helping.Parents need to learn that life vests are not your "babysitter" And may want to watch the Sounds of Freedom Movie. It would be great if there was somewhere to get water especially since it's hot. (Maybe I missed it ?)The only other observation was the dress code. I guess I did not expect to see the types of bathing suits allowed. Some beaches don't even allow thongs. I was just shocked. Cheeky is one thing, a string only, is something else. 🙈

Massanutten Waterpark is really nice! You can attend all year around because they have indoor and outdoor sections. Since most people talked about the waterpark, I will describe other sections of the building as well. If you do not want to be in the water like myself but you'd like to still watch your children or family have fun you can go to the watch area upstairs. Let me explain the waterpark building a little bit more. There are 3 levels to the water park building. The too floor: gift shop, waterpark observation seating area, dessert store, and restaurant. The middle floor is an arcade for all ages. The bottom level is for the waterpark. The top floor is where you can buy tickets to everything related to massanutten resort. You can also go into the gift shop and buy items. There is also a sweetz dessert bar and a bar & grill restaurant on the top floor. This is also where you'd look down at the waterpark in the seating area to watch your family. The second floor is basically a dave n busters area. The entire floor has up to date games. I noticed the staff constantly cleaning the game area while i was there. And the bottom floor is all related to the park which is where you enter, store your items, buy your tickets and so in.

This was so much fun. I felt like a child all over again. The slides were fun and my 4 yrs old daughter was everywhere and it was safe. . The tube ride was relaxing and I highly recommend for a nice vacation getaway for the family. I did wear sun shades because the water splashes everywhere.

Tanisha Maxwell — Google review

Great place to visit, especially if you live in the area because you can always go back and forth. If you do not live in the area is best to stay a couple days and experience the full effect of the resort. There is so much to do so. Many options from all ages of the family and yes, you do have to drive a little bit here and there. It is all within a short radius. I highly recommend a visit if you haven't and if you have, why not visit again? There is one thing that I would recommend that. The park change that every person that pays for a ticket to the water part could at least receive a towel. It was not informed to me prior to that. My admission did not even include a towel. And I had to purchase a towel for 4 plus people in my party. To me that was my only concern. Am I only issue I went to the water park? Add to the masoning resort with no expectations and my expectations were met. I feel like if you have expectations. Then you could be disappointed so from my experience of my family's experience. We had a great time.

Shenandoah Caverns is a fascinating underground attraction that offers a guided tour of caverns with stunning geological and crystalline formations. There is also a souvenir shop available for visitors. While the experience may be expensive for some, it is definitely worth it as the tour guide is knowledgeable and patient, making the time pass quickly. The Main Street of Yesteryear adds an interesting touch to the attraction but does not require much time to explore.

Yes. Yes yes yes. Go here. Great store. Great cave! Yummy milkshakes we bought at the end to drink at the playground. Cute room upstairs to see the animated dolls. Kids loved it and I got a kick out of it too. American Parade building reminded me of New Orleans. Lots of beautiful floats on display from the Rose Ball Parades. All included with cave ticket. Cave is VERY impressive. Lots of calcium in the water so many deposits makes for plentiful natural cave formations. Fun guide and impressive cave.

4 stars because it was a little expensive for 4 people, but otherwise it's great and my 11 and 13 year old loved it! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and patient, and the tour passed quickly. The Main Street of Yesteryear was interesting, but doesn't take much time.A few helpful things to know:1. The cavern tour is a little over 1 mile long and there's nowhere to sit. Make sure you can stand/walk for at least an hour.2. Some parts are somewhat steep to go up/down.3. If you're taller than 4'5" you will have to duck through some short passages.4. The caverns are humid, so even though it's a steady 50 - 55 degrees, by the end you'll be a little warm. Dress in some light layers.

Beautiful area to visit. Had the 5pm tour on Sunday with a young girl as the tour guide. She did a great job. Also parked our RV there for the night as they are part of the Harvest Host program.

Beautiful caverns, friendly guide though not as knowledgeable as those in other caverns. Some areas were quite dramatic. I did not particularly care for the fake colored lights. There was an interesting area outside the caverns that was worth a few minutes to see. It cost 80$ for 2 seniors and 2 kids under 10.

Great spot to take the family. Kids (9&6) loved it. It does take about an hour to go through the entire thing. Upstairs is a little creepy and macabre but in a good way if you're into that kind of thing. Tours start at the top of the hour so if you get there right after you're going to have to wait.

Amazing experience to go into the Caves... It make you think about the things you cannot see on the surface but exist. All the staff was great... Our tour guide Cadence was also amazing! Don't leave the Shenandoah Caves without trying the co*ke Cola with the original 1957 recipe and the awesome milkshakes in the dinner. Recommended 100%!!

Totally awesome show cavern! Shenandoah Caverns has a really well done guided tour. The cavern has many unique formations to see including the Capitol Dome, the Bishop, Diamond Cascade, and Rainbow Lake. Their "Breakfast Bacon" formations appeared in a National Geographic magazine. Not to be overlooked is the balanced boulder, which looks like it could fall any minute but hasn't moved in millions of years. There is definitely a lot to see here! The tour itself lasted about and hour and half, was well paced, and allowed time to photograph and take in the beauty of the cavern. Tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Walking was fairly easy, much of the path was flat.Be sure to take in the animatronic displays before you go on your tour. It's a fun exhibit with depictions of many different fairy tales. Gift shop offered much merchandise with fair prices. Really small post office on the premises.Definitely a must see cavern! Also, easy to get to right off I-81.

Another cavern you don’t want to missed visiting the Shenandoah area not too crowded and there is a tour guide who will walk you all to the fascinating view. Best part when she turn off the lights to simulate how dark it is inside the cavern. This has elevator option. This place not too crowded and it is time schedule with tour guide, total time can be 45 mins to walk around. They turn off lights when done to protect so no algae will bloom. Again this is a highly recommended to be added in the bucket list visiting the area.

From the lady at the front desk to our tour guide, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The cavern was amazing and beautiful! Our guide answered many questions and was extremely helpful. This is definitely worth visiting. There is also a gift shop. Main Street of Yesteryear is in the upstairs of the building that has old storefront displays - fascinating! Easy to get to, not far from highway, handicap parking and entry into building, and an elevator into the cavern.

Kathy Root — Google review

The design of this tour is beautiful. They did a good job with the lighting and pathway so you really get a more intimate feel of the caverns. Although Luray caverns is bigger, this experience felt much more personal. They also have a really nice display of storefront animations and cute decor and playground. We really enjoyed our visit.

Loved this caverns! So beautiful and a great tour guide! There's a gift shop and a little Cafe. Upstairs there's a display of antique store window displays. On the property, in another building, there's a museum of the most awesome parade floats from presidential inaugurations, Macy's Thanksgiving and others.

We visited in August 2023. Lots to see for a great price. I loved the guided tour. Our guide Cadence was very knowledgeable and funny. The steps into the cavern are long and steep. If you can't do steps, they do have an elevator, think only canvern that has one.

This place was amazing!I met Joe the manager while out working and he suggested my crew and I check it out, we had a great time. Everything was so beautiful, so many great photo opportunities and the staff there is fantastic! Tracey at the front desk was very knowledgeable and super helpful, she even recommended a place to eat for lunch, and cadence our tour guide was super nice, and gave an amazing tour, I loved all her corny jokes she made while down in the caverns. I was hoping to see Joe again to thank him, so Joe if you read this thank you so much for the great time, we're definitely coming back in the summer to check out the parade museum!(We're the utility pole inspectors)

We stopped here on a road trip and were pleasantly surprised. We have been to multiple caverns and this one is by far the best! I was road tripping and was driving down the highway and found a highway sign this. I decided I needed a break and went. The ladies at the counter were very fun and friendly. Explained the whole process and it went smoothly. We got there at the bottom of the hour unfortunately and had to wait. I really liked how much fun the side room was with the float pieces. The tour was really fun. I'm 6ft so some places were tight but overall I really enjoyed it. The tour guide was a lot of fun. Everything was beautiful and Id check it out again.

If you are going with a group, buy your tickets in advance. If not, depending on the timer of year, maybe call in advance and check. We went at around 3:30 and got the last tour of the day, the last tour was at 4 so we got to spend a lot of time with our guide. Normally the tour is only 45 minutes to an hour.... We lucked out. Excellent guide, very informative, even our guys who weren't really interested in going really enjoyed it and were happy that we stopped. I'd say it's a once in a lifetime thing, but I was here as a child about 45 years ago and have been wanting to come again for years.... Finally made it. Yay 😊 Thanks for making my childhood dreams a reality again. ❤️

Food & Drink

Nestled in the foothills, Cave Ridge Vineyard is a family-owned winery known for producing top-quality grapes. The vineyard hosts special events like Caribbean night and Wild Game Dinner. Visitors can enjoy craft brews at Box Office Brewery or indulge in red and white wines at the historic Strand Theater. Guests are treated to VIP experiences with glasses of Rose upon arrival and beautifully set up tables with charcuterie boards.

Great atmosphere, really quaint and quiet back here, it's so peaceful when the wind blows through the trees. The wine flights are affordable and tasty! Feel free to bring your own snack's to sit outside.

The Red Sangria was unbelievable. I bought a bottle and I'm half way through it. The Baggett and oil worked really well to clean the pallet between tastings. The chocolate plate was just great.

Georgianna Shepke — Google review

Cave Ridge Vineyard is in my top three of best wineries in Mt Jackson. They have a great atmosphere and a diverse selection of wines. I had never had a ‘lushie’ (a wine slushie!) before, but it was literally so delicious. My family and I got three different flights and it was so nice having that many different wines to choose from. Not only was the wine good, but the snacks were also super good. We got the chocolate and charcuterie board and absolutely crushed it. Although it’s more on the pricey side, it is well worth it. There was plenty of seating, as well as ‘igloos’ you could reserve in the colder months. There was also a really cute backdrop to get some good pictures at. Overall the experience was fantastic and I would love to come back with the family.

Allie Haynes — Google review

Second time visiting this vineyard and had the best time! We reserved a tasting which offered samples of several wines along with a small offering of snacks to accompany. They offer outdoor gas fireplaces for a small fee, igloos for rent in the winter and wine slushies in the summer. Love this place and will keep coming back!

Tara Kelley — Google review

The rating represents the lovely people and location. There are several different venues on the property: a traditional indoors tasting room, a covered pavilion, patio, and plastic igloos for cooler weather. While the red flight I tried was not my favorite style, people first appetizing red wines may enjoy the lighter flavors and fruit-forward palate. The mulled wine and the Champagne-style white in my spouse's flight were tasty and representative of their styles. If you're in the area, you should try these wines for yourself.

Patrick Wright — Google review

Been to this vineyard twice now. They are very welcoming, have a great atmosphere, and a decent selection for their charcuterie board. The first time we went, the charcuterie board was in a prepackaged box, but they're now doing handmade ones. The wine is delicious and I highly recommend visiting this place. Also, for all the ladies who love taking pictures, they have a nice little photo op spot, as seen in the pictures.

Fantastic wine, ambience and service! I booked a reserve tasting for my wife and I but mistakenly booked it for the wrong weekend. I told the staff no worries and we’d be fine with enjoying some flights outside. However the staff was adamant they would make it work. They dropped what they were doing and threw an unscheduled tasting together. Jared was fantastic and the wines were top notch. Can’t wait to come back!

Our group had an amazing experience at Cave Ridge! We came as part of my sister’s bachelorette trip and booked the barrel room - it truly made the weekend so special. Jared was very knowledgeable about each wine on the tasting menu and was a ton of fun (the whole team was wonderful) and we even got a special visit from the owner! The tasting menu had a great balance of sparking, white, and red wine options and each one was incredible! The ambience is very relaxing and the perfect spot for a celebration. I can’t recommend Cave Ridge enough!

Last night, my husband surprised me and took me to this wonderful vineyard for my birthday. What a wonderful time we had. They were having wild game dinner and wine pairing. We were greeted by the owner, who is amazing. Poured the first of wines, a sparkling Rosé with hors d'oeuvres. That set the tone for the night. I can't put into words how wonderful the wines were and the meal served with. If you have never been, I encourage you to visit, You will not be disappointed in any wine you choose. The notes, the flavor, are spot on. I would like to take this moment to thank the owner, his family, and staff for making this one of the most memorable enjoyable Birthday's I ever had. The family style dining made the moment even more special. My husband and I met new friends and shared a moment in time. To Michelle, Bonnie, Chip, my husband and I appreciated your dining companionship. Thank you, Cave Ridge Vineyard. We shall return.

Lovely winery - scenic venue, very friendly service, great tasting options. Can't go wrong with the sweet flight - mulled wine is fantastic! Great charcuterie board as well.

I did love this place. The wine was fantastic. You will not hear me say that with local wines. The people were nice and the ambiance was very nice

Hey Family!!October 2nd , we started Virginia wine month with a bang!!I took a group of 14 ladies to shenandoah for a relaxing day of wines and grapes stomping. We ended up at Cave ridge Vineyards, besides the weather being gloomy and raining on and off it didn't stop us from having a fabulous day.We were welcome by Luna and Graig with glasses 🥂 of Rosè (isn't this a vip treatment?)We were taken to our tables that beautiful set up to our surprise with charcuterie board (beautiful made by the way by Megan Phillips ) . We went through a guided tasting of over 10 wines. The ladies learned so much about the grapes, the story behind cave ridge, process of aging and with the food pairing. We ended with a port style that was paired with a dark chocolate and that was definitely everyone's favorite 😍, who doesn't like chocolate and wine? Me, 😆 🤣 ....Megan and the crew were fabulous as always and went beyond custom service to make everyone feel comfortable. The cherry on top we had our own stomping on grapes experience even though it was cold and rainy ⛈️.It was a first time for a few ladies for grapes stomping and first winery in VIRGINIA and Cave ridge Vineyards has set up the expectations pretty high .Big thanks 😊 to Megan, Luna and the wonderful, friendly and welcoming family there we made ❤️.Till next time#favoritewineries #queennadjma #melaninonthemovedmv #favoriterosé

The rating represents the quality of the wine.Their reds are less than desirable and their white wines were little more tolerable.Rebecca was informative and helpful but customer service only goes so far. I would recommend trying the sparkling sampler and skip everything else. The premade wine slushies are solid on a hot day. There are several different venues on the property: a traditional indoors tasting room, a covered pavilion, patio, and plastic igloos for cooler weather.

These caverns have stalagmites, stalactites & bats, plus a pool & mini golf on the park property.

Great experience. We had to wait an hour and a half because we didn’t book ahead, but they gave us a free round of putt-putt golf while we waited. The golf was fun, and the cavern was excellent. It took a little over an hour. I would recommend these caverns to anyone.

Wonderful gem in the north end of Virginia's Appalachia. 25 bucks gets you a walking tour through some amazing caverns. The geological structures of these caverns were unlike anything I have seen. They are also very old so lots are broken but I think it added to the history of the caverns. Rose gave a fantastic tour. I highly recommend this if you are visiting Shenandoah or Blue Ridge Parkway.

If you're looking for a day trip to explore and learn this is the place to go. It has great atmosphere and learning environment for people of all ages. Not only does the offer caverns but outside activities as well. The tour was great and guided by knowledgeable people. The cavern itself was a cool experience, worth the time. When you do purchase tickets for the cavern make sure you use one of the discounts that they accept. The cover that stove is that wheelchair accessible and or stroller accessible.

This place was wonderful. We had a great tour guide and it was so pretty. We went late afternoon and had a very small group. I would recommend this visit to anyone. The tour is about an hour long and little over 3/4th of a mile. The walk is easy with a gravel footpath. There are a few stairs

This place has a great guided tour. Anna was so funny and informative. The pictures we got that day didn't do this place justice.Massive rooms of rocks that will blow your mind. 55 degrees so dress warm.

This was a fantastic way to spend a couple of hours. It was actually a Google recommendation, and I couldn't be happier that we saw it. It's a guided tour only, but no complaints here! Our guide, John, was incredible. Friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly extremely passionate about caving and spelunking. The tour he gave our group was informative and entertaining! We'll be sure to check out Fountain cave next time we're in the area!

Jeremy Futrell (ThePenMaster) — Google review

What an amazing experience! We loved every bit of this tour. Daniel (we think that was his name!) our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and had a lot of fun tidbits to tell us. The tour is as explained on the website-expect to spend 70-75 minutes below. One thing you don’t know until you get there is no food or drink is allowed in the cavern. And there is no bathroom (obviously) until you leave. Also as part of the tour our guide turned off the cave lights for about 20-30 seconds so we could experience total cave darkness. While super cool, this may be something people want to know before going in as there could be people or kids who could be afraid.

My husband and i were staying in Luray,Virginia to do some hiking decided to book the after hours Grottoes Crawl. It was the full three hours of crawling through holes/tunnels and walking around the cave and it was awesome! This was our first time in a cave/caverns and it was incredible. We had a terrific time with our guides Gabe and Dianna! They were so interactive and funny together. There were only four people in our group and it made it really easy to ask questions and learn more about the caverns. If you like more of an adventure book this tour!! It was so cool to walk around the caves in total darkness after hours, we got a good mix of history/geology/and adventure all in one. So happy we took the drive and decided to check out Grand Caverns!

Nicole Mrofchak — Google review

Gabe was awesome! He was funny, informative and was a joy to be our tour guide! Learned a lot during the tour and enjoyed the scenery within the caves. There was a lot of parking and the cave was chilly enough for me to wear a light sweat shirt, but I prefer the heat so each to their own.

Justin Nguyen-Le — Google review

Chillingly fun! The cave stays a constant 54 degrees so bring a jacket. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and added bits of humor throughout. The cave is a natural beauty. Very much enjoyed.Caution should be taken as pathways are dimly lit and can also be slippery.

Chassidy Collins — Google review

Out of all the cavern tours I have done up and down the I-81 corridor, this was definitely the most informative and interesting. Aaron did an excellent job of incorporating both science and history into the tour, which I thought was fantastic because the mix of both is really what sets Grand Caverns apart from any of the others up or down the road.My only complaint (and I am not even sure that anything could be done to fix this for someone in the future, but it made my experience unpleasant enough that I probably wouldn’t come back) is the other folks who were on the tour. I am about 5 feet tall on a good day and my son, who is 7, is about a head shorter than me. Every other one of the 20 plus people were average height to tall. In no way were we, in our dwarfish state, going to block anyone’s view of anything (well maybe the floor)However, I think at least half if not more of the people on that tour at one point or another SHOVED either my son or I out of their way. To the point where I loudly commented on it. Maybe they misunderstood where we were and thought we were trying to get off the Titanic or something, idk. Anyway it was dumb and I was too tired to deal with Karens so wasn’t worth interrupting Aaron’s A+ tour to make a scene.

Jennifer Goad — Google review

Did the Rock Bottom Adventure tour with my wife. We had 3 guides to ourselves as we were only ones signed up that day. After getting our gear and instructions, we made our way up to the cave entrance. This is not your walk through tour. You are maneuvering around, sometimes crawling around and getting a bit dirty. There are some options as to the difficulty of the paths you travel. But the interior of the cave was incredible. The guides were great, very knowledgeable about the history of the cave, and felt very safe. Definitely make sure you have shoes with good tread and be prepared for some fun climbing and crawling around. Highly recommend.

our tour guide, daniel, was very informative and came off as a trustworthy guy. the views were of course very beautiful but it’s also nice to know the history of the caverns

alexis pine — Google review

The caverns themselves are marvelous. I’ve seen a lot of caves, and these were definitely at or towards the top of the list. We chose a walking tour, but “adventure tours” that go deeper into the caves are also available. Our tour guide, Diana, may have been the best tour guide I’ve had the pleasure of following in my entire life. At the beginning of the tour, a little girl expressed her apprehension. Without missing a beat, Diana called her over to a formation where she shone her flashlight and pointed out the sparkling calcite to help her see how magical (not scary) it was.She was upbeat, funny, projected well, and she answered every question asked of her. She kept things moving at a good pace (not too rushed, but quick enough that we could see as much as possible). She remembered that I had asked about helictites halfway through the tour, and she took special care to point out one as we exited (and of course gave a great explanation of the science behind them). She did a great job of balancing her commentary between the history and science of the caverns. She pointed out the imagined shapes and corresponding names (e.g. a “zoo” of animal-shaped rock formations), but she didn’t dwell on them to the point of tediousness the way I’ve some cave tour guides have done in my experiences elsewhere.Perhaps most importantly, it was thoroughly apparent that she loves caves and teaching people about them. Please give Diana a raise (and a laser pointer) ASAP!

Ski resort

Nature & Parks

Ski resort also offering summer activities such as a bike park & zip line (no on-site lodging).

We made day trips to Bryce Resort multiple weekends during the 2022 ski season. This was our first season visiting Bryce and we were teaching our 3 kids (all under 6 years old) to ski. This is the perfect place to teach kids to ski and for the adults to have some fun too.- there are multiple bunny slopes all with carpet lifts- there is a main building at the bottom of the slope with two dining areas - a cafeteria and a restaurant. The restaurant has great food, service, drinks, and vibes!- a lot of people pack lunches and just eat picnic style at the outdoor tables at the base- all staff and guests were so friendly - the resort has a very relaxed welcoming atmosphere.- 2022 ski season required advance lift ticket and rental reservations which were easy and seamlessAll three of our kids were skiing the blues by the end of the season! Thank you Bryce, we will be back next ski season!

We came for the tubing and stayed to people watch. Tubing was such a blast! I thought an hour and a half wasn’t going to be enough and I’d want more, but it was actually perfect. You get tired from dragging the snow tube all the way up the hill, but it’s all part of the fun. Go early enough and you can walk around the resort. The lady working at the gift shop was so nice, even gave us tips on what to do and see in the area. We went to check out the lake and it was gorgeous, we definitely will be back to check it out in the summer.

Our family had an amazing experience at Bryce Resort this ski season. As first-time skiers, we were looking for a mountain that would be beginner-friendly for our 3-year-old twins, and Bryce did not disappoint. The resort's learning area is perfect for young children and beginners. The gentle slopes and dedicated learning area made it easy for our twins to get the hang of skiing. We also appreciated the overall atmosphere of the resort. It felt safe, family-friendly, and not too crowded, which was perfect for us as beginners. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained.One of the highlights for us was the variety of activities besides skiing that Bryce offers. Our twins loved the tubing hill and the fireworks shows were one of the best we've ever seen.Overall, we would highly recommend Bryce Resort to families with young children who are learning to ski. It's a great mountain with a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for creating lasting memories on the slopes.

We went to Bryce for the first time. Here are our thoughts:- very friendly staff and ski coaches. They approach you even like a family.- ok dining options. Some are not open during weekdays ( check before you go) indoor cafe at the base offers very basic food, and not very delicious. But others are good.- small mountain, but not crowded compared to some other local resorts- ice rink was not open when we were there, but we already paid for it ( with our other tickets) . Tubing area is small, doesn’t have much snow, very icy and hard.I love it’s being small that our family is easy to stay together, but kids don’t love that because it’s less fun for them. So probably we won’t go back.

Serena Liao — Google review

Went here because Blue Mtn was closed for repairs for their chairlift (for the downhill bike park). I honestly and happy it turned out this way because I was blown away. I’ll be honest, the mountain is relatively small but the trails are amazing, well groomed, and well planned. I went to Powder Ridge in my home state of CT only to be heavily disappointed after spending a day at Bryce. If you frequent parks in area DO NOT sleep on this one! Especially if you like smoother flowier trails, this one has a perfect progression for jumps as a newbie up to mandatory drop double black diamonds. I will be back!

Beautiful resort specially if you are going with kids / big groups. They have a little nip slope (flatter than bunny) and a bunny slope great for adult/children beginners. We were a big group, 9 adults + 4 kids (age 4), and we all had tons of fun. Kids took private class, and they were able to go down the little nip slope in the first 30 minutes. Everything is very close! Which is great for families, ice skating rink, tubing, parking!, all the slopes and lifts, bar, restaurants, were within a 5 min walking distance of each other. There are 2 restaurant, one is a grab and go, no reservations, but for the other one you need reservations in advance if is a weekend.

Cristina TT — Google review

Incredibly short staffed right now, we were told be there hour ahead to get gear so we were (line outside in cold and shaded) line lasted nearly hour and half almost missing our lesson (would have if we didn’t arrive earlier than told). So if not bringing your own gear be there wayyyyy early. Some frustration on slopes (not entirely resort fault) as snowboarder just kept stopping and sitting on the runs making for more obstacles.First aid team is great, took care of my child when hurt quickly and efficiently. Food standard cafeteria grub. Tubing tracks are nice break from the skiing.Oh and if staying at one of the condos don’t follow the gps directions- we ended up driving up icy mountain in the dark when could have made turn other direction and gone straight there on flat surface.

I visited Bryce this week for the first time and purchased the first time ski package which includes your lift ticket, ski rentals, and a private ski lesson at a great price. As a first time skier, it was perfect for me and helped me become confident on my skis by the end of the day. I can’t say enough good things about my instructor, Dave, who explained the techniques very clearly, encouraged me the whole way, and pushed me to improve while always making me feel safe. He was so personable and his love for what he does was extremely evident. Bryce is an easy to navigate and beautiful place that helped me love skiing and I plan to return to very soon!

Great place for a group trip or get together or just bring the whole family as there is lots to do. Not too far from DC, but feels far enough for a getaway.

Bryce resort was an amazing place for us to go and take our kids to learn to Snowbaord for the first time, they really enjoyed ice skating and the copper kettle restaurant as well. We highly recommend this place. We came back again this year and absolutely loved it. The place we stayed was beautiful, and everything was so convenient. I do recommend though that if you do rentals, you mine as well have your own equipment, as one of my children wanted to snowboard after we purchased an all day pass, and with still 45 mins left of the evening to hey on bunny slopes, they made it extremely difficult for us for him to use a board for 45 mins, we weren't very happy about that, as the staff just wanted to get our of there and go home. So, highly recommend having your own equipment with you.

Took my son tubing today and we had a blast! The staff was so kind and made sure the slopes were slippery so we could enjoy our time. The guys at the top of the hill were super nice too and made my son's day. Thank you for a really great experience!

Bryce Resort has a really fun bike park. I'd never been to a bike park before. The trails do tend to be very very dry which took some getting used to. My husband and I usually ride trails and the loose dirt/rock felt really foreign at first. Riding the lift is fantastic and all the staff was friendly and courteous. They had water jugs out on tables everywhere, so it was great being able to refill your water bottle. The parking lot is really close to the lift, so it's very convenient to ride back to the car for lunch or snacks. They have a very convenient portable restroom at the top of the lift.Old Fashioned is crazy fun, our favorite trail by far. Sundowner is nice for beginners but nothing very fun on it, in my opinion. Brew Thru is a great jump progression line. If you are looking to try a bike park, this is a good place to start. We'll be back.

I never write reviews but Bryce Resort was amazing! Planning our trip online was easy and once we arrived it was a great experience for my boyfriend and I since we are newer to skiing. It wasn’t too crowded so we didn’t have to worry about waiting in lines or running into people. We started our day with snow tubing and it was such a fun experience to get us warmed up to the snow. The ski rental staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. The lady working at the ski shop was so helpful and kind. We ended our day with dinner reservations at the Copper Kettle and it was AMAZING food. You have to try the bang bang shrimp. The staff at the Copper Kettle SO friendly, it was the perfect spot to end our Valentine’s day celebration. Thank you so much Bryce resort for a wonderful day! <3

I bought 2 rental gear + lift tickets and a private ski lesson for my 7 year olds first-time. It's a resort, so the prices seemed about right for everything. My son, by the end of his 90-minute lesson, was doing great, and he enjoyed his instructor! I definitely suggest getting lessons for the first time! They had live music outside from 2-5, at the outdoor food/bar area. There, I ordered us hot dogs and hamburgers, and they were good! This was our first time here, and the staff made it a nice memory! I didn't know where to go, and they helped us each step of the way. When we arrived at our selected time it was very busy, the parking area is huge but unfortunately we ended up on the way end but..... a nice guy in a Bryce golf cart picked us up and brought us from the parking lot to the resort. From that moment, the fantastic customer service began! Your staff and resort rocked! Great place! Highly recommended!

White Oak Lavender Farm is a must-visit destination in the Shenandoah Valley, especially during June when the lavender is in full bloom. Visitors can enjoy wine tasting, tours of the beautiful farm, and indulge in unique treats like lavender ice cream. The farm also offers a petting farm for kids and features an alpaca named Avalanche. With picturesque grounds, quaint shops, and a variety of products to choose from, it's an unforgettable experience for all.

Have been going to White Oak Lavender Farm for years; excited to see them starting to open back up. Love their products - highly recommend the lavender pepper grinder, the lavender lemon freeze pop, lavender ice cream and lavender wine slushy. The addition of the tasting room and wines is so exciting and the wines are good! Definitely add this to your agenda if you are in the area. They have an audio tour and a petting farm for the kids. Be sure to say hi to Avalanche the Alpaca when you go. 🦙

I just left and couldn't wait to leave a review. I loved this place! The grounds were stunning, the shops were quaint and has so many options of things to choose from. The smell was AMAZING. I spent way more money than I had intended, but it's worth it. The wine selection and sampling was great, and they had samples of other products, as well. They had some activities for children, and the parking was accessible for the people I was with who have walking issues. Great experience all around!

My kids and I visited not to long ago and must say it White Oak is a treasure for Valley. From the store to the outdoor areas, it is beautiful. We stayed for hours taking in the scenery, the store and trying their delicious Lemon Lavender Ice Cream. The next time we come into Harrisonburg, it will be on our list to stop by again. ❤☀

Fantastic location for a fun family trip. Inexpensive to get to discovery area. We went out of season so we were unable to pick but they have lots of gift shop stuff to make up for it. Dried lavender, bath oil, buds for tea, chapstick, lavender wine slushees, even food products like lavender balsamic oil. So happy with our trip and would come back if I didn’t live five hours away! Come here just for the wine and gift shop if any thing lol

My family and I were here for the weekend from DC & while we were looking for attractions nearby we came across this place. We immediately wanted to check this out since they had small animal encounters where you can pet small animals. The animals were adorable and the place overall was just beautiful. You can walk around and see the bigger horses, rabbit and chickens. The place was so relaxing and peaceful. We stopped by the gift shops where they have so many products with lavender. We also stopped by the tasting room where we tried a lavender strawberry slushy. It was amazing. I can’t wait to come back into town and check this place out again.

Lovely lavender! 🌱🌱🌱The scent was everywhere in the store. Charming store 🐐and animals (extra entrance fee). We enjoyed sipping wine 🍷but couldn’t decide on any we really wanted to take home. Maybe the idea of lavender infused wine just didn’t appeal to us. But we tried and had a pleasant experience here.Really friendly wine baristas. Good time here.

Absolutely love this place!!! It's a great visit for all ages!! They have plenty of things to do !! Wine tasting, playing outdoor games, visiting the farm animals, going through the lavender maze and so much more!! They have the best wine slushes around!!! They were so sweet and not watered down. They make a great after work treat! The lavender is also incorporated with the wine which makes a very unique taste. Don't forget to visit the shop and grab lavender locally made products ranging from essential oils, lotions, heating pads, soaps and so much more. Don't forget to check the freezer for the lavender ice cream!! Yes you heard that right lavender ice cream. A perfect dessert to relax anyone. Or if you're not in the mood for ice cream try the lavender coffee or tea that's in the back of the store ( free samples. This place also ships bundles of lavender, lavender products and of course their wine !! So stop on by and support a small local business and enjoy!!!!

What a serendipitous last-minute decision to visit this surreal place. We had no idea what to expect other than what's on their brochures but can assure you, there's no words to explain how peaceful and tranquil the property is. Beautifully manicured gardens, tactful decor, and animals too! Don't forget to get a sampling of some culinary lavender, too!

Surprised by the beauty and serenity of this place. Well worth the trip and paying $5 to walk through their area behind the shop. Free range chickens, alpacas, horses, bunnies all reside and appear to be well kept and loved. The landscaping is breathtaking. I was ready to move in. There is a wine tasting area which we partook of and a shop that sells amazing lavender products. An excellent stopping point that I would highly recommend. You really need to experience this little gem because words do not do it justice.

What a beautiful and serene place. I loved strolling the grounds and seeing the animals. I like that they aren’t forced to interact with people and they seem super happy. Their gift shop is amazing and they have so many lavender products. Loved their golf and garden balm. They have live music and have recently built a stage. I’d highly recommend this as a must see when visiting the area. It’s perfect for visiting with friends, kids, families and even alone.

White Oak was such an amazing find! The farm was beautiful and everyone was so kind and Knowledgeable. We learned so much about the different kinds of lavender plants. A very cool place. If you love sweet wines as my wife does, don't go here. I hade the beer flight. I was impressed by 2 out of 4. That's about par as we all don't like everything. Very pretty environment with animals like donkeys and goats. Games for kids and plenty of seating in and outside.

Our group of 8 came to the farm as part of my friend's bachelorette party weekend. We knew it was a great place when we were greeted by chickens in the parking lot! Despite the rainy weather, we had a blast enjoying the grounds and a wine tasting in the enclosed pavilion. The Chambourcin wine was one of the best that I've ever had, and the lavender infused ice cream was delicious! Can't wait to come back again to experience the farm in another season!!

Went well beyond our expectations. The wine slushies are a must! The farm is gorgeous!!! This is a must visit if you are in the area. They even have beer if you don't like wine.

Nice winery with friendly staff and family owned. Check out their event list as there is a nice stage for music events, fire pit tables, and their is even beer and ice cream they make. If you are visiting JMU or Harrisonburg this is super close. The garden is well maintained and lavender everywhere.

We stopped by for a bit close to closing on a Sunday. What a great place. The gift shop was really cute with a variety of merchandise. We got some lavender ice cream and it was really good! Stopped into the tasting room for a flight of wines and a beer and enjoyed everything. Every person we met while there was so nice and we felt very welcome. Extra points for the horses!!We weren't there for long but it was such a nice experience.

Danielle Brusoe — Google review

Pretty neat place - hard to describe it because there's so much to see and do. There's the winery part, the wonderful store that is basically lavender-everything (never knew lavender pepper was a thing but now I wanna try it) and the farm side which let's you pet the horses and alpacas and sheep and goats! They're even a monarch butterfly migration stop. They also do weddings! If you are driving through as a tourist or are a local and want to have a full day out, look to go here.

Garden

The Edith J. Carrier Arboretum is a botanical garden located on the campus of James Madison University. It features trails and forests, as well as a beautiful pond with benches and waterfowl. While the gardens themselves are pleasant, some visitors have noted that the woodland paths could be better marked. Guide pamphlets are available at the Visitor Center office, though it may not always be open.

Super beautiful area with lots of cute ducks and turtles. Definitely saw some flowers i’ve never seen before which was awesome. We were just passing through and decided to stop here for a short walk. I would recommend you to stop here if you have a chance.

Katelyn Tousant — Google review

This was a nice stop on our drive to North Carolina from Western Maryland. The gardens themselves were nice although the woodland paths were not well marked. Very pretty pond with benches around the pond with water fowl. There are guide pamphlets at the Visitor Center office and they sell some beautiful plants. Unfortunately, the office was not open the day we visited (a Sunday). There were available restrooms inside though. The parking onsite however is really lacking with only 2 small lots. Otherwise you need to park at the nearby parking deck. Needs a bit more work and it'll be just as nice as Duke Gardens at Duke University.

The JMU arboretum is an exquisite place to escape to take in some nature. Under the massive tree canopy are squirrels, turtles, birds, multiple trails, bridges, flowers throughout the seasons, and many wonderful people to meet. Take the whole family, as they have plenty of things for young kids to enjoy.

Really beautiful and The trails are really well-maintained. This is a really pretty area and there’s lots of woods to explore. You won’t get lost in the trails are wood chips so they are not muddy, even after a lot of rain. There’s a beautiful creek and when we went there were no bugs. I would recommend that you go – this is not the typical Arboretum!

Jason Christenson — Google review

Very nice lovely place. Easy to park. Restrooms are everywhere! Many kids come here for picnics or school activities.

This place is magical. It's the place that little kid you just knew that gnomes and fairies would live. I swear, we moved here just to find the arboretum. It's so beautiful and absolutely cared for and well maintained. We've never gone the same way yet, and I love trying all the new trails and seeing where we end up. There are lots of benches along the way for you to enjoy the scenery or rest. I'm still in awe. And it's been a Godsend for our senior dog in this heat, as it provides ample shade and places we can stop for his old bones to rest. Also, my mom loves that I text photos home whenever we go. My absolute favorite spot we've found so far.

Emily Crum — Google review

Great place to spend an hour or a few hours. There is a gift shop/education center currently open 8AM-4PM Monday-Thursday & 9-3 on Friday. Many trails to enjoy & wonderful benches to take a break on or to sit and enjoy the bird life and flowers.

Bryan Vig — Google review

James Madison University campus had this small beautiful arboretum - true to its message “inspiring outdoor engagement in a woodland sanctuary.”Free admission - good for kids interns of enjoying the gardens and walking trails. We could spend 30 min in the evening while we were on our way after visiting Lurey caverns.Pecked pond loop trail was where we spent most of the time.

Neeraj Singh — Google review

Beautiful and nicely sized gardens which can be walked in an hour or so. Lots of variety and a lovely pond with benches to sit and take in the views. We went on a Tuesday in the middle of the day and there was no problem finding a parking spot.

Beautiful gardens. It was peaceful, safe and easy to find. We had a lovely walk and it's also a great place to take pictures.

Kenyah Calhoun — Google review

Absolutely beautiful! I wish we had more places close to us like this. It is truly special and an amazing place. Beautiful flowers, greenery and trees. Unkept paths and landscaping. It was so relaxing and inspiring walking through. Definitely a must. I’d be here regularly if I lived close.

Kyle Pettine — Google review

Really pretty place. There are different places within the arboretum. There is a little Stone labyrinth that I did not get pictures of because a child was walking in it.Some places along trails are more wild. Some are more cultivated with beautiful flowers and trees. There was a very cool family musical section with instruments you could play. There is also something they called Storybook Land. There were different animals and plants created in a Storybook Land format. I included some photos so you can see what I mean

This is an amazing place to go and get out side with nature. There was plenty of places to park, 2 very clean bathrooms and plenty of fresh air. Great place to take the kids, or just take you lunch to relax. This is a hidden little gem in the town of Harrisonburg.

This is a nice little visitor center with a couple of one room museums contained within the same building. The staff is very helpful.

A nice experience! Did not expect the small Cafe to have much available for an easy quick lunch, Surpise! It was very good. The information lady was quite pleasant and had the answers we needed.Rest Rooms were quite clean. Is a bit far from I-81 for a visitors center. College town with a BIG GAME....took is about 15 minutes to get there.

Interesting historical exhibits & film, lovely rooms, a cafe, and a very helpful staff with a lot of information on the area. Well worth a stop to begin your visit.

Judy Grillo — Google review

If I could give this no stars, I would do so. The older lady that works at the help desk was VERY rude. Every job I have ever had has dealt with the public. I understand that some days are better than others. I also know that those emotions need to be in check when you come to work. The lady offered no help at all. She acted as if I had no idea what I was doing but also seemed to expect me to know what she was talking about. She was EXTREMELY impolite. I’m not the kind of person to write negative reviews about people but this was one of the most unmannerly experiences I’ve encountered with someone. Please don’t let her discourage you from the beautiful city of Harrisonburg.

Justin Shifflett — Google review

I stopped in here to get some information about the Harrisonburg area. The staff were very friendly and full of of useful information about the city. They suggested that we visit the local Camber of Commerce for information on relocating to the area. The center is located in the center of town and is a beautiful building. They offer countless brochures and maps on local sites and tourist attractions.

Jaime Brownell — Google review

They had a lot of information about various things in the area, from attractions to natural points of interest, the gentleman working there was helpful and nice. It’s a must for any visitor in the area

Stephen Podley — Google review

Clean, spacious rooms. The breakfast was exceptional. A bit pricey for blue collar families like mine.

Very cute visitor's center. Carol is so sweet, the kids did a little scavenger hunt with the model of the old town. I like it! But weirdly postcards are .50 instead of .35 haha

Specialty Museums

Virginia Quilt Museum is a former residence that has transformed into an impressive museum dedicated to exhibiting quilts. The three floors of galleries showcase a range of quilts, from historical to modern designs, and the exhibitions change regularly. The knowledgeable docents provide detailed information on each exhibit, including provenance and restoration techniques employed by the museum. Visitors can also view temporary exhibits featuring art quilts, such as those depicting endangered species.

This is an amazing museum! The docents we met today were very knowledgeable about the quilts in the current exhibit, and it changes on a regular basis so it's a lot of detail to keep up with. Rachel went beyond and showed us a quilt that I had a special interest in, explaining its provenance as well as the restoration techniques that the museum is using to extend its beauty. You can't go wrong with this one!

Jan Croon — Google review

Great museum with a lot of interesting exhibitions and features to the old house.Price is a little high, but other than that, great museum recommended for visitors

Kenan Pal — Google review

I quilt, so I found this place fascinating. My husband doesn’t, but he enjoyed it too. We saw some amazing art quilts of endangered species in a temporary exhibit, but they asked we not post pictures online. Stop in if you can while that show is up!

Lauren Natale — Google review

As someone who loves sewing I was keen to visit this museum while we were staying at the Massanutten resort. The quilts on display are beautiful and it is interesting reading about their history on the display cards. Our family of four enjoyed wandering through the house and admiring the different exhibitions. The sewing machine collection is incredible! We also loved trying out the Singer pedal driven manual machine.

Lauren Simpson — Google review

A gem! There is a fee (less than $10). I saw this place as I was walking the Downtown Art Walk. I wasn't going to go in, but I'm so glad I did! The quilts are beautiful. You can take pictures, but you cannot post them anywhere due to copyright. They said that the exhibits change, so I will definitely come back if I'm ever in the area.

Taylor P — Google review

4 quilt exhibits in an old, somewhat historic building. Two were modern quilting, two exhibits were older quilts. Lots of old sewing machines. Gift store. Not at all accessible. Those using canes could possibly manage the stairs. They did have magnifying glasses available to borrow, but no other accommodations for those with vision issues.

Lissa — Google review

This museum is a great place to visit if you are in town. The staff is super friendly, and the quilts are beautiful. There are two floors; both floors have quilts. There is a very cute and reasonably-priced gift shop on the first floor where I bought gifts for loved ones. Part of the first floor has a history of the building along with an old jail from back in the day. On the second floor, they also have antique sewing machines.Unfortunately, they request you not to share photos of the quilts due to copyright reasons, but I have shared other photos of the museum. My partner is interested in textiles and quilting, and he loved this place. I would definitely recommend visiting this museum!

Jessica DeMarco-Jacobson — Google review

I visited to see a special exhibit dedicated to NASA and the original Moon shot. The special exhibit was very well presented in a very large space. The rest of the museum was good, too. They did a nice job of representing Virginia quilt art and history. It's two stories and a basem*nt, so be ready for some stairs. There was a modest entrance fee, too. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

Steve P. — Google review

It was very impressive. I stopped in on my way out of Harrisonburg. I thought it would be a quick stop, but I ended up staying almost an hour. It is 3 floors of quilts, sewing machines, and other sewing/quilting antiques. Whether you are interested in vintage quilts from the 1850's, quilts created in the 1970-80s or recent quilts featuring themes of diversity and inclusions, this museum has all of these. It was a very nice museum displayed in a historic house. They ask you not to post photos of the quilts on social media, so here is a wall of sewing machines they have on display. Cost was $8 for general admission. Discounts available for seniors and students.

The work at the museum is amazing. It is 2 floors of quilts and old sewing machines. Pretty cool to see.

Woodsy year-round retreat constructed in the 1930s with modern & rustic cabins, trails & a big pool.

Cabins are great. We enjoyed a nice quiet stay in the snow covered mountains. Woke to deer resting on our front yard. Few other visitors this time of year. Can hike from your cabin. Dog friendly (on leash)

Heather Casey — Google review

Excellent choice of a place to go for the day. The trail heads are well marked and you can tell lots of effort was put into curating the park. The views are excellent, and nothing you will see anywhere else.

Account Guide — Google review

We love this park. The Cabins are very nice. The staff are friendly & helpful. Very beautiful here. There are playgrounds for the kids, a pool for summer months, family exercise trail, other trails, either a valley ball court or a tennis court(not sure) disc golf area, & horseback riding(separate cost from cabin rental) there are a lot more things here to do as well.

Lisa Nagy — Google review

Great getaway. Stayed for 2 nights in cabin 7. Plenty of space with 4 bedrooms. The dining table set for 8-9. Clean and comfortable. Peaceful and quiet.

Heidi Smith — Google review

Lost River is a lovely retreat even for a short weekend stay.We were housed in Cabin #20 that has a nicely open deck toward the acceas road.We had time to loop 2 trails back to the cabin. The short one Loblolly trail (took one hour) and the next day we walked the Razor Ridge trail ( a 3 hour walk).Lots of green in the forest, bloiming flowers on the forest bed and the trees. All in all it was a wonderful stay.

Eugenia Luca — Google review

Great place to have a picnic (lots of tables) with your family or spend a few hours outdoors hiking. Play on the baseball field, slide, swings or teeter totter. Flush toilets. Simple and well maintained.

Kristen Staley — Google review

Everything was fantastic! The cabin we stayed in was really nice and well equipped. The mattress in there was so comfortable we had to look who made it. The trails were well maintained and all the staff were very helpful and nice. There are some fantastic local businesses near by including The Butcher Block that is completely worth the trip. I don't know if all West Virginia state parks are this great or just this one but I'll find out soon. 11 out of 10

Erinn Findley — Google review

Beautiful park, best cabin we have stayed at in any of the lower 48. Stay here if you can get a booking, really worth every penny.

Colleen Neidrauer — Google review

All cabins have the necessary amenities, including cookware, extra blankets, and Wi-Fi (if you must be on the web in this environment!). The small rustic cabin I stayed in was super clean and very comfortable. I was loaded with firewood (you can buy extra if you need more than the free allotment) and completely prepared for the rain and snow during my stay. It was a wonderful, quiet, restful experience. Bring all the groceries you need - the closest grocery store is about 30 minutes away (although there is a quick stop within a mile or two of the park).

MANTOOTH 9 — Google review

Intense hike starting from the Howards lick trail head, up a service road, then to the White oak trail. There were some cut throughs (steep) instead of taking the switchbacks. The views were well worth it and a fun little picture opportunity!

Alyssa Peters — Google review

One of the best state parks I have visited. There are plenty of picnic area tables on lush green carpet like grass and it has cabins too. There are lots of trails to do, but the best is Cranny Crow Outlook trail. The park restroom needs upliftment and park service should create designated parking lot for White Oaks trail (Cranny crow).

Rupam Chakraborty — Google review

A beautiful park! Friendly and informative personnel! We hiked to the Cranny Crow Overlook...it was strenuous and longer than expected, but the view at the top was worth it! Wow! Would love to go back and explore more.

Ruth Dingus — Google review

Fantastic place! We come here every year and every year is just as amazing as before. My grandmother grew up here and worked in the restaurant or something like that here, so this place has always been somewhere we loved and cherished and visited. It's so beautiful and peaceful. The cabins are fantastic! There are quite a few to rent here. There is a pool, basketball, volleyball, an obstacle course/fitness trail, disc golf, all kinds of hiking trails, tennis, and so much more. It's not really near a grocery store or anything (about 30 minutes away), no cell service - which I actually don't mind - but wifi in the cabins. There is also horse riding nearby.
